Today is the day shoppers will hit the
stores from before sunrise until long after
sundown preparing for holiday gift giving.
Local shoppers can choose from a vari-
ety of Baytown areas to buy presents for
their friends and family. The Garth Road
corridor, Texas Avenue and North
Alexander all have something different to
offer consumers this holiday season.
Best Buy and plenty of stores in the mall
have special offers for "early birds" today
only.
Many stores are opening extra early to
give shoppers more time to get what they

RY AUSTIN KINGHORN

Beach City has joined with the local
chamber of commerce in requesting the
United State postal service grant the area
its own ZIP code.
The 77520 area code covers portions of
Baytown along with West Chambers
County, but because the post office in
Is
Mont Belyieu does not have its own deliv-
ery trucks, residents who want home
delivery must adopt a Baytown mailing
address and zip code.
Beach City council passed a resolution
asking for the new designation this week.
“Basically we want to eliminate the con- .... . -------------
fusion that 77520 brings to those entitiespressed the need for a new zip code with
that use it for their purposes,” said Mayor U.S. Rep. Ron Paul’s chief of staff during
