Retha Marie Chenevert was
born Retha Marie Artis on June
15, 1942, in Kinder, La., to Roy
Artis and Lessie Lavan Artis.
She was blessed with nine
beautiful children. Retha
resided in Barrett Station for
over fourty years. She was a
faithful member of St.-Martin
de Porres Catholic Church
where she was a member of
the Ladies Auxilary and the
Legion of Mary.
Retha was a devoted and
loving wife, mother, sister,
grandmother, and friend. She
was an outspoken advocate and
supporter for her her friends
and family. She was a perpet-
ually kind and caring person
that made everyone around her
feel special. Retha’s beautiful
smile was the light of.every
room she was in - she had a fun
sense of humor and a compas-
sionate heart. She visited the
sick and elderly when she was
24 yrs,

December 24,1915 in Broaddus
and passed away Thursday,
November 24,2005 in a Baytown
hospital. She was a member of the
Exxon Annuitants, First Baptist

Zebedee of Houston, Toyia of
Humble; sons Kenneth Jr. of
Barrett Station, and Michael of
Barrett Station; sixteen grand-
children, and one great-grand-
child; two sisters that she dear-
ly loved, Odella of Beaumont,
and Ella Mae of Lake Charles,
La.; four caring brothers, Ray
of Houston, Leonard of
Oberlin, La., Olin of Oberlin,
La., and Donald of Kinder, La.;
one dear brother-in-law,
Richard Chenevert of Barrett
Station, and a host of neices,
nephews, relatives and friends.
Retha passed Tuesday night,
November 22, 2005 at 8:00pm.
Visitation will be held at St.
Martin de Porres Catholic
Church, Saturday, November
26,2005, starting at 9:00am,
followed by the rosary at
10:30am and a Catholic
Funeral Mass at 11:00am.
Interment will be at St. Martin
Holy Family Catholic
