Early warning signs
could be that the child
has difficulty following
directions and seems
limited in understanding
the use of familiar ob-
jects, such as toys. The
child may seem slow to
learn concepts such as
names of colors or
parts of the body. The
child may seem to have
difficulty naming things
or telling what is seen
in pictures.
Speech and language
delays are indicated
when the child has diffi-
culty stringing two or
three words together to
make a simple phrase,
such as “big, brown
dog”. The child may
seem unable to answer
question, or the child’s
speech may be difficult
to understand.
Motor delays may be
seen in a child’s difficul-
ty with walking, running,
making towers of
blocks, and holding and
scribbling with crayons.
Crosby parents who
have concerns abut
their child’s early devel-
opment are urged to
call 281-328-9372 to
set up an appointment
for a screening on Oc-
tober 23, 2008 and No-
vember 20, 2008.
