again, the work never ends
and the success continues!
In closing Shipp made
it clear, “This is such
an exciting time in my
life!! I'm grateful for the
opportunity to continue
to grow my businesses.
My children and my dear
friend are my business
partners. I am so blessed to
be in business with these
great people.”

Dreams do come true.
Sometime in the mid
1990's, Cynthia Patterson,
BSN.RN and Carol Men-
delovitz, LMSW, NCBF
were working at Center for
Hospice Care at San Jacin-
to Hospital. Knowing that
the hospice was soon to be
sold they began dreaming
of owning their own hos-
pice. They both worked
during the next 10 years
but the dream remained
intact.
Cindy had worked as
executive director and
consultant to several large
standing hospice which
is locally owned and op-
erated. They assembled
a team of nurses, aides,
social workers, chaplains,
and office help who live
and work in the Baytown
community. Their goal and
philosophy is “To Comfort
Always”. A passionate
cry you might hear in the
office as to howf to make
the lives of their patients,
family member and staff
better. Pain management
and symptom control are
the main focus of care.
Exploring as a team to see
services had become di-
luted as the big compa-
nies took control of hos-
pice senices, they began
to plan to bring the more
compassionate hospice
back to Baytown. The
concept of hospice is
not new to Baytown, but

surrounding counties as
well as being The Educa-
tion Director for Diabetes
at San Jacinto Hospital.
Carol was the catalyst
for the formation of The
Compassionate Friends
and Transitions Outreach
both offering group be-
reavement counseling. She
had also been in adminis-
tration in another hospice
during those years.
In August of 2004 that
dream started to become a
reality.

“We try hard to
participate and support in
events that supports the
children and people in our
community. Giving back is
extremely important to my
family,” she added.
As far as her work
history, Shipp has worked
at hospital-based ERs
as well as privately
owned freestanding ERs.
“1 worked at the first
privately owned ER in
Houston. This experience
gave me a foundation to
build on to open my own
freestanding ER. I’ve had
a great experience the past
2 years opening my own
business
In November 2014
Patients ER had its grand
opening in Mont Belvieu.
In September 2016, we
had our ribbon cutting
on our new helipad., the
first privately-owned ER
helipad in Texas. We are
currently in an expansion
project in Mont Belvieu so
that we can accommodate
our growing business.
I opened Hospitality
Health ER - Longview
in December 2015 and
Hospitality Health ER -
Tyler in April 2016. My
newest ER will be breaking
ground in Galveston, on
the seawall, in about 2
by opening Patient’s ER in
2014,” Shipp recently told
the Sun.
“With both of us having
an medical background,
we wanted to create an
Emergency Room facility
that would be welcoming
and comfortable for our
patients.
It was important to us
that we provide absolutely
top-notch service in our
hometown. Our ER is

Jeanne Shipp is a
business owner and a
registered nurse. Her long-
term goal was to open a
business in the community,
where she has lived for 30
years, that would elevate
the experience of medical
care to a whole different
level. “My partner and 1
developed our business
plan, worked on getting
business partners and
made our dream a reality
all about the patients,
and customer serv ice is
imperative.,” she added.
Shipps’
has been
freestanding
rooms, as a nurse/
administrator for 11 years.
Her management goal of
setting the bar high, then
hiring the right people and
staff to not only reach that
bar but also keep raising it
has resulted in phenomenal
success as their Mont
Belvieu location is
currently undergoing a
major expansion that will
double the size of the
facility and the number of
services offered.
