Staying in sight of Eagles
aim for Cowboys, Redskins
BY BARRY WILMER
AP Pro Footbal Writer
A ct»cfc ol the wnst
gets vx --xxe at ww» twylown*un com
Watson is on pace for one ot the best rookie seasons
ever by a quarterback, especially considering he didn't
start the opener. Watson's 15 ID passes are the most by
a rookie in his team's first six games of a season
Twelve of those have come in the past three games
where he's posted a 118.3 passer rating and tossed just
two interceptions. He's the first rookie in league history
with three straight games ot three or more 1 D passes.
Here's what else to watch for as the Texans visit Se-
attle for the first time since 2005:
BROWN’S BACK: Houston's offensive line got a
boost when Duane Brown ended his holdout and re-
ported to the team this week after tailing to receive a
new contract. Houston coach Bill O’Brien is optimistic
that Brown will be able to plav.
CATCHING ON DeAndre Hopkins will always be
the Texans' primary pass catcher, but Will I tiller is pro-
viding contributions I idler has five touchdown catches
in hi> three games this season and is averaging nearly
20 yards per catch.
TTirough the decades, when the Cowboys and
Redskins met. it often was for the division lead. To-
day. the archrivals go at it for the 115th time. \t stake:
second place tn the Nl( l ast behind the high-flying
Eagles.
W hile the Eagles host the w mless 49ers already own-
ing • 2 I 2-game edge in the division, the winner at
i edF x Field at least can remain in sight of Philly.
For Dallas and Washington, both 3-3, this is a critical
matchup. Cowboys fans were having anxiety attacks
with their team under .500, but a romp at the 49ers
brightened the outlook
“We are definitely going into the direction that we
want to go." quarterback Dak Prescott says. “We are
play mg up to our standards and expectations ot the
way we expect to move the ball, the way we expect to
get points. It s hard to say there is one thing that has
changed If anything we have continued to keep faith
and keep confidence in ourselves and continue with the
same game plan we have been doing euiy in the sea-
son. We are getting into a groove.”
Watson’s next test:
Seahawks in Seattle
BY TIM BOOTH
AP Sports A -
SF AFT l E — Deshaun Watson was brilliant against
New 1 ngland He handled Tennessee and ( leveland,
and only threw five touchdowns against Kansas ( ity
lor his next act. Watson will be asked to solve the
best scoring defense in the Nil. featuring some ot the
best defensive backs of this generation in one of the
loudest, most hostile road venues in the league
“You play music and try to create noise, but you re-
ally can't prep yourself tor it. You just have to wait
until you get there Sunday and experience it.'' Watson
said “You can blast the music all you want, but that's
not going to help you on Sunday It’s going to be way
louder.”
The biggest test thus tar in Watson's rookie season
arrives today when the Texans (3-3) travel to Seattle to
face the surging Seahawks
After a shaky start. Seattle (4-2) has won three
straight — two of those on the road — and now gets
four of the next six games at home with the only road
trips being to Arizona and San I rancisco.
