Poll finds ITuinp fares

W ASHINGTON (AP) lust 24 percent of Ameri-

after a tumultuous stretch for President Donald Trump
that included the threat of war w ith North Korea, stormy
complaints about hurricane relief and Trump’s equivo-
cating about white supremacists That’s a lO-pomt drop
since June, according to a poll from The Associated
Press-NOR( ( enter for Public Affairs Research
The decline in optimism about the nation's trajecto-
ry is particulffiiy pronounced among Republicans In
June. 60 percent of Republicans said the country was
headed in the right direction, now it's just 44 percent
The broader picture for the president is grim, too.
Nearly 70 percent of Americans say Tramp isn't lev-
el-headed, and majorities say he k not honest or a strong
leader. More than 60 percent disapprove of how he is
handling race relations, foreign policy and immigra-
tion. among other issues.
Overall, 67 pcaeni • Americans disapprove of the
job Tramp is doing in office, including about one-third
of Republicans.
Of all the issues surveyed by the AP-N()R( poll, the
president performs slightly better on the economy But
even there. 56 percent disapprove of the job he’s doing
and just 42 percent say they approve

Tuesday. Early voting runs from Oct. 23 to Nov. 2.

running. Dav id Himsel. Jerry Doy le and ( hristina Pape

Crosby ISD residents will vote on a S109.5 million
bond package proposal that addresses growth w ithin the
school district. Included in the bond are two academic
wings at the high school, a new elementary school and
a 6th grade campus.

advance of a home equity line of credit, and allowing
home equity loans on agricultural homesteads.

by the governor and confirmed by the senate after the
expiration of the person’s term of office
• Requiring a court to provide notice to the attorney
general of a challenge to the constitutionality of a slate
statute and authorizing the legislature to prescribe a
waning permd before the . .ir may enter a judgment
holding the statute unconstitutional
• Expand the definition of “professional sports team”
to include motorsports minor league teams and other
teams, for the purpose of deciding which professional
ns chantable foundations are allowed to hold raf-
fles.
• Providing for an exemption from ad valorem taxa-
tion of all or part of the market value of the residence
homestead of the surviving spouse of a first responder
who is killed or fatally injured in the line of duty.
• Permitting credit anions and other financial institu-
tions to award pnzes by lot to promote savings
