ing. Our students want to learn and they
will benefit greatly from the library,*' re-

Academic Beginnings for C hildren, a
coalition of Baytown area education, civ-
ic, business and nonprofit organizations
working together to deliver the best solu-
tions for children, has worked several
years on multiple initiatives to advance
childhood literacy.
The unit at Laguna Azul Apartments is
the second Frac Little Library placed this
year by Academic Beginnings for Chil-
dren.
In March, the organization placed and
continues to maintain another Free Little
Library at USA Washatena, 110 North
Alexander Drive.

out the Baytown area with Academic
Beginnings for Children, reach out via

ginnings for Children has expanded to
include placement during August of a
Free Little Library' at Laguna Azul Apart-
ments, 1200 Northwood.
The three-shelf Free Little Library is
I filled with children's books made possi-
ble by a $400 donation from members of
Xi Alpha Gamma Zeta chapter of Beta
I Sigma Phi.
Children are encouraged not only to
| read from the Free 1 ittle I ibrary while
in the apartment complex's washateria,
where the library is placed, but also to
take a book for enjoyment and learning
at home.
As the library was being placed, both
the counselor and the family involve-
ment coordinator from I amar I lementa-
ry School who were assisting recognized
| a student from the school who came for-
ward to ask about the books.
