Grand Champion Harrow and
Brittany Henley showed the
Reserve Grand Champion Barrow
during the highly competitive
2005 Hockley County Junior
Livestock Show.
Jesse Cavazos won the
coveted Senior Showmanship
Award and Brittany Henley won
the Junior Showmanship Award.
Berk competition
In Class I, Berk breed, Kelsie
Dutton, an Anton FFA member,
claimed first place; Justin Lee, a
Hockley County 4-H’er, won
second; Tanner Drake, a Ropes
FFA member, won third; Layton
Hinson, a Hockley County 4-
H’er, won fourth; Shelby
Hicklen, a 4-H’er won fifth; and
Ty Tumipseed, a Ropes FFA
member, placed sixth. Also
showing but not placing were:
Bryce Britton, 4-H; Kavin
Comer, 4-H, and Tim Stone,
Anton FFA.
In Class 2, Berk breed, Carey
Reding, Whitharral FFA, won
first place; Corey Nickelson,
Hockley County 4-H, won second
place; Kit Chambers, Ropes FFA,
won third; Sarah Swanson, Anton
FFA, won fourth; Mikki Riddle,
Smyer FFA, won fifth; and Adam
Stone, Anton FFA, placed sixth.
Also showing but not placing
were: Paige Brown, Smyer FFA;
Sage Wheatley, 4-H; and Jeremy
Franklin, Smyer FFA.
Carey Reding's 203 lb. Berk
was declared the breed champion
and Corey Nickelson's 221 lb.
Berk was the reserve breed
champion.
Chester competition
There were four classes of
competition in the Chester breed.
In Class I, first place went to
Jordan Howard, a Smyer FFA
member; second place went to
Cade Potter, a Levelland FFA
member; third place went to
Alexis Pinkert, a 4-H’er; fourth
place went to Blake Jackson,
Ropes FFA; and fifth place went
to Justin Ochoa, Ropes FFA.
Also showing but not placing
were: Tanner Drake, Ropes FFA;
and Clayton Blount, Anton FFA.
In Class 2, first place went to
Ariana Methvin, Levelland FFA;
second place went to Clayton
Blount, Anton FFA; third went to

competition.

Carlee Sea, Anton FFA; fourth

FFA; fifth went to Jordan

and seventh went to Jalee
Charters, 4-H. Also showing in
