Levelland Loboettes clobber Lady Cubs, 80-16
Controlling the game from
stan to finish, the Levelland
Loboettes rolled over the
Brownfield Lady Cubs Friday
night. 80-16
Jumping out to an early lead,
the Loboettes hit shots from
everywhere on the court.
Levelland's guard Susan
Brashear scored six points in the
first quarter, draining two three-
pointers from the top of the
pen meter
Tana Lockett scored two
points with a fast break lay up.
Loboette Enn Methvin used
her strengths under the basket to
rack up eight points for
Levelland
Leading the Loboettes in
scoring in the first quarter was
Chelsea Blackshear with nine
points
Blackshear drilled two three-
point shots, penetrated the paint
for two points, and made one
from the foul line.
Defensively, Levelland
allow ed the Lady Cubs only three
points in the first quarter on a
shot from the outside.
W ith their offense putting the
ball m the hoop and playing
aggressive on defense, the
Loboettes ended the first quarter
on top, 23-3.
Carrying their momentum
into the second quarter. Levelland
again dominated both sides of the
ball
Stepping off the bench,
Loboette Kasey Voss put up five
points for Levelland with a three
and a jump shot from the foul
lint.
Stevi Webb made her
presence known in the paint with
four points, and Methvin helped
out with two points under the
basket.
The Loboettes’ major threat
in the second quarter was post
Kayla Gerstenberger, who scored
eight points for Levelland.
Another strong defensive
effort by Loboettes allowed for
Levelland to take a commanding
lead at the end of the first half,
40-9.
With a 31-point lead going
into the third quarter, Ixvelland
continued to improve after every
quarter.
Lcokett hit a jump shot at the
stripe and Webb scored two
under the basket and went two for
two from the foul line.
Blackshear showcased her
abilities from the outside with
two successful three-pointers, a
jump shot and one free throw
Feeding the ball into
Gerstenberger in the third quarter
was a big part of the Loboettes
success.
Gerstenberger went one of
two from the foul hne and
finished with eight points in the
lane before the third quarter
ended
Playing their strongest
defensive quarter of the game, the
Loboettes gave up only two
points, with both coming from
the foul line.
Levelland stretched their lead
at the end of the third quarter to
64-11.
With no sign of letting up,
the Loboettes stepped on the
court in the fourth quarter ready
toplay.
Guard Monique Green added
four mote points to Levelland’s
score, going four for four from
the free throw line and Adrienne
Villareal ripped a shot from the
outside for three points and one
from the line.
Blackshear, who had been a
thorn in the l.ady Cubs’ paw,
scored three points in the fourth
quarter.
Webb led the Loboettes in
scoring in the final quarter with
five points going three for four in
free throws.
Continuing their defensive
stand in the fourth quarter, the
Loboettes held the Lady Cubs to
five points, making the final score
80-16.
Blackshear led the Loboettes
in scoring with 21 points, two
assists, five rebounds and had
two steals.
Gerstenberger finished with
15 points, seven rebounds and
had one steal.
Webb scored 13 points, one
assist and had seven rebounds.
Methvin finished with eight
points, one assist three rebounds,
one blocked shot and had two
steals.
Brashear scored six points,
three assists and had one steal.
Voss recorded five points, one
assist, three rebounds, one
blocked shot and had four steals.
Green finished with four
points, two assists, one blocked
shot and two steals. Villareal
scored four points, three assists,
one rebound and had one steal.
Lockett scored four points, six
assists, three rebounds and had
two steals
Brittany Golightly
contributed with one assist, two
rebounds, and one steal for the
Loboettes.
“We played very hard and
executed well. I was very
pleased with how we played
overall,” said head coach Terri
White
After the win over the Lady
Cubs, Levelland is now 4-0 in
district and 19-6 for the season.
The Loboettes will face
Lubbock Cooper*Friday for their
next game. The game will begin
at 6:30 p.m. at Lubbock Cooper.

College Lady Texans turned in a
delightful 77-38 win over
Midland College Monday night,
vaulting into third in the WJCAC
standings.
To say the Lady Texans (17-
2 overall, 2-1 WJCAC) had the
game won from the outset would
perimeter by Perez and four two-
pointers and two three-pointers
by Henson.
Michael Brassfield and Luke
Perry took one three-point goal
each for Ropes, and Taylor
Jordan took two points from the
line. Two points from the floor
each authored by Josh Cowan and
Luis Davila wrapped up the
Texas halftime lead.
• In the first period, SPC shot
63 percent (19-of-30) compared
to a paltry nine percent (3-of-31)
for Midland.
“I’ve never seen anything
like that," said Lady Texan head
coach Lyndon Hardin. “It was a
half where everything we did
went right and everything
Midland did went wrong. I don’t
think I ever seen a team,
especially a conference team,
miss so many easy shots like
Midland did.”
In the second period, the
Lady Chaps woke up to some
extent, scoring 31 points against
mainly the SPC bench, but it
wasn't nearly enough as SPC
took the important home victory.
The Lady Texans were led
by sophomore Danielle Wilhelm,
who scored 17 points and
grabbed nine rebounds.
Damesha Harris scored 11
points while Fallon Thomas and
Brooke DeGrate both chipped in
10 points each.
“It was a good win,” said
Hardin. “Ourplayers played hard,
but we have to keep it in
perspective. It’s not going to
happen like that every time. It’s a

be close to an understatement.
SPC fired off a 30-2 run in
the first 11 minutes of the game
that easily put the Lady Chaps
(14-6 overall, l-l WJCAC) on
ice.
Midland could manage only
five more points in the rest of the
half, leading to a 45-7 Lady
The Ropes Eagles took a 55-
28 win at home Friday when they
hosted the Loop Longhorns.
Ropes dominated the scoring
for the first three periods of play
by holding Loop to only 11
points while the Eagles offense
powered through for 51 points.
The Longhorns outscored their
opponents 17-4 in the fourth
period, but Ropes took the win Eagles scoring for the game,
with a final score of 55-28. ~
Taylor Wilson led the Eagles record of 4-1 in district and 19-4
in scoring with 15 points on six overall,
two-pointers and one goal from competition

2-0 WJCAC) comes into the
contest after defeating Odessa
105-95 in overtime Monday in
Odessa.
The Lady Wranglers handed
SPC its only conference loss of
the season Jan. 17.
The Lady Plainsmen are led
by Tiffany Davis and Rochelle
Vance, who are averaging 16 8
and 15.9 points per contest
respectively.
Vance also leads Frank
Phillips in rebounding, averaging
eight per game, good enough for
second in the WJCAC.
The contest will be broadcast
starting at 5:45 p.m. on KLVT
