The Lady Bobcats took a 43-
26 victory at home Friday when
Smyer, and Padon Holt stole the
ball on the next Plains possession
and took the ball down for two
Bobcats points.
The Cowboys took four more
points from the paint for the
period, and Smyer scored two
points from the floor with a
basket by Brandon Mosley, and
Holt took two points at the line
for a score of 14-5 going into the
second period.
While Plains was held to 11
points in the second period, the
Bobcats took 18 points for the
period, starting with a Holt two-
pointer.
After a Plains possession for
a two-point goal, Smyer tried to
get some points on the board with
shot attempts by Garcia, Kerns
and Randy Garza before Mosley
was able to get a shot in froirt the
perimeter for a score of 19-7.
The Cowboys took two
points from the line and two
points from the floor, which the
Junior high teams
compete against Littlefield
Kerns opened the team's
scoring for the period with a goal
from die two-point range and two
points from the line. Holt
followed with a two-pointer of
his own after rebounding a
Robertson three-point attempt.
Kems and Holt finished up
the Bobcats’ scoring for the game
with one two-point basket by
Kems and two courtesy of Holt
for a Smyer win with a final score
of 52-29.
This victory gives the
Bobcats a record of 3-1 in district
and 11-12 overall for the season.
They took to the courts again on
Tuesday when they hosted
Whiteface. They will play again
on Friday when they host
O’Donnell starting at 8 p.m.

Cowgirls possession. Tiffany See
followed up with a shot from the
perimeter authored by Tiffany
See increased the Smyer lead to
31-12.
Plains took their only points
of the period with a three-pointer
and a two-point basket. The
Lady Cats wrapped up the
scoring for the period with one
point from the line by Shields and
a goal from the paint by Smyer’s
Magally Silva for a score of 34-
17.
Both teams took nine points
in the fourth period. The Lady
Bobcats took their first points of
the period with a Crystal See
three-pointer. Smyer followed up
with two points from the floor

Shields wrapped up the
scoring for the game with four
points from the line on three
separate Plains fouls for the Lady
Bobcats win of43-26.
Shields led in scoring for
Smyer with 15 points, followed
by Tiffany See with nine,
Andrews with eight, and Crystal
See with seven. One two-pointer
each by Silva and Hernandez
finished up the 43 Lady Cats
points.
Smyer continued district
competition on Tuesday when
they hosted Whteface. They will
play again on Friday when they
host O’Donnell starting at 6:30
p.m.

Shields took two points on a
goal, and a foul by the Lady Cats
following put Plains at the line
with two attempts. The Cowgirls
made both shots, and Smyer
closed the scoring for the period
with a goal from the paint
authored by Crystal See with an
assist by Erica Hernandez for a
score of 16-4.
While Plains took eight
points for the second period, the
Lady Cats took ten points from
Smyer started out strong in
the first period with 16 points,
while the Lady Cats defense held
the Cowgirls to four points.
Berry Andrews opened the
Smyer scoring for the period with
a two-point goal after an assist by
Tiffany See.
The Lady Bobcats increased
their lead with two shots from the
perimeter authored by Tiffany
See. The Cowgirls took two
points from the floor, but the
Smyer scoring continued with an
with five points on one two-point
goal and three free throws;
Jessica Brattain with four points
on one two-pointer and two
points from the line, and Teri
Martinez and Kayli Jackson with
one point on a free throw each.
This loss gives Ropes a
record of 3-2 for district and 13-
12 for the season. They
continued competition on
Tuesday at Wellman-Union, and
will play again on Friday when
they host Meadow starting at 4
p.m.
The Bobcats increased their
district record with a 52-29 win
against the Plains Cowboys
Friday at Smyer.
The Bobcats took an early
lead in the first period by holding
Plains to five points, while the
Smyer defense took 14 pointe for
the period, starting with a Kurt
Kems two-pointer after an assist
by Angel Garcia.
The Bobcat scoring
continued with another two-point
basket by Kurt Kems. When
Plains took the ball down the
court on their next possession,
Garcia knocked the ball out-of-
bounds to give Smyer a chance to
set up under the net.
The Cowboys were unable to
get through for a goal, but a foul
by Kems put Plains at the line for
two attempts. The Cowboys
made one of the shots for a score
of 4-1.
Michael Martinez followed
up with a two-point goal for
Bobcats followed with a two-
point goal after a Kurt Kems
assist, two points from the paint
by Garcia and other Holt two
pointer.
Plains lit up the board with a
two-point goal and one point
from the line after a foul by
Kems, and Smyer wrapped up
their scoring for the half with
two-point goals by Holt, Kems
and Aaron Highsmith after an
assist by Brent Robertson. The
Cowboys finished up the scoring
for the period with a three-pointer
for a score of 32-16.
The Bobcats took a game-
low of eight pointe for the third
period, while Plains took their
only lead in scoring for the game
with 10 pointe.
Holt authored six of the
team's points on two goals from
the paint and two free throws.
Brent Robertson closed the
Smyer scoring for the period with
two points from the floor after
Levelland seventh and eighth
grade girls basketball teams took
wins Monday when they hosted
Littlefield.
The eighth grade A team
took a 32-23 win against their
opponents. After a 6-6 first
period, the Loboettes took the
lead with 13 pointe in the second
period to Littlefield’s six to make
the score 19-12 going into
halftime.
Levelland was outscored in
the third period 5-3, but a 10-6
fourth period in favor of the
Loboettes gave the team the win
with a final score of 32-23.
Ambrosia Joyce led in
scoring for Levelland with 10
pointe, followed by Tiffany1
Cavazos with eight pointe.
Danika Whipple and Candace
Kemp took four pointe each for
the team, and Randi Durham,
Crystal Castillo and Leah Coats
took two pointe each.
The eighth grade B team
took a 42-13 win against
Littlefield. The Loboettes
outscored their opponents
throughout the contest with
quarterly scoring of 10-2, 6-2,
13-2 and 13-7.
Kirstie Avery and Erika
Morin led in Levelland scoring
with nine pointe each, followed
by C.J. Longoria with eight
pointe and Ashley Sanchez with
six pointe. Four pointe each by
Heather Lawless and Veronica
Hernandez wrapped up the team’s
the paint and one point from the
line; Adam Rios with two pointe
from the floor and Joe Don
Wilcox with one point from the
line.
Creighton Henderson led in
Sundown scoring with 16 pointe
on three two-pointers, one three-
pointer and seven points from the
line. Also scoring for the
Roughnecks was:
Julio Posadas with 14 pointe
on four goals from the paint, one
goal from the perimeter and three
free throws; Adam Arellano
wcith 10 pointe on two two-point
baskets, one three-point basket
and three free throws; Makenzie
Franklin with nine pointe on one
two-point goal, one three-point
goal and four points from the
fine; Shannon Sehon with four
pointe from the floor; Cutter
Knox with three pointe on one
two-pointer and one free throw;
Tommy Serna with three pointe
from the floor and Justin Garza
with a two-pointer.
The teams will compete

took a hard-fought 23-22 win
against Littlefield. Kourtney
Smith led in Levelland scoring
with seven pointe, followed by
Clarissa Escobar and Alle
Alvarez with six pointe each.
Jessica Vargas took three
points for the game, and a point
from die line by Leigh Kay
Atchison wrapped up the
Loboette scoring for the game.
The seventh grade teams will
compete again starting on
Thursday when they host the
Levelland seventh grade
tournament.
The eighth grade teams will
not compete again until Monday
when they travel to Muleshoe
with games starting at 5 p.m. for
the seventh grade A team and
eighth grade B team, and 6:15
p.m. for the seventh grade B team
and the eighth grade A team.
Whiteface Antelopes take
79-61 win against Sundown
The Antelopes took a 79-61
win against the Sundown
Roughnecks Friday at Whiteface.
Sundown took a one-point
lead in die first period for a score
of 18-19. A 13-8 second period
in favor of the Antelopes closed
the gap to 27-31 going into
halftime.
The Whiteface offense
powered through the third period
and outscored Sundown 19-4 to
take die lead. The Roughnecks
edged out die Antelopes once
more in the fourth period with 30
pointe to Whiteface’s 29 to make
the score 79-61 for the Antelopes
win.
Wade McCasland led in
scoring for Whiteface with 21
pointe on three two-point goals,
two three-pointers and nine free
throws. Mario Gongora followed
with 13 pointe on three goals
from the paint, two from the
perimeter and one free throw.
Also scoring for the Antelopes
was:
Brent Patterson with 12
stealing the ball on Plains A 12-3 fourth period in favor

Lady Eagles suffer loss
The Ropes Lady Eagles
suffered a 49-38 kiss Friday when
they hosted Loop.
The Lady Longhorns steadily
increased on their lead
throughout the game with
quarterly scoring of 10-6, 13-10,
11-8 and 15-14 in Loop’s favor
for the win with a final score of
49-38.
Rebecca Mitchell led in
scoring for the Lady Eagles with
11 pointe on fqpr two-point goals
and three free throws; Lindsey
Putman took 10 points for the
team on three two-pomters and
four free throws. Also scoring
for Ropes was:
