Dear Editor:
November 3, 1964 is a day to
be remembered. We, the people,
knew that we must keep our faith
in our I Yu ted States Government
We beat a lot of GOP’s out of
their jobs for we know that the
GOP is never on the side of the
people. Proof is in the reading of
the Congressional Record.
Now we Texans must get more
GOP’s out of ofi.ee, I recommend
Jim Wright for U. S. .senator in
our next National election.
We must keep them out until
they can come up to where they
can support the majority of us.
When they are in office they
most of the time dodge the issues
They must adopt more principles,
something the people can believe
is true and honorable.
Thanks, goodfolks, for your
vote.

Dear Friends,
Have you ever thought about
seeing snow in the middle of the
Majove Desert?
Well, folks, when we were on
our way out here and the mercury
hit 120 degrees-in places we tra-
veled
see a
inches
We
mountains
where it snows
People from
ally take their
the first snow,
wasn't necessary
were thrilled when they got up
the 17th and 18th of November
and looked out and saw snow and
more snow During the night it
had begun to snow and was still
snowing. It was beautiful
forget how beautiful new
snow can look after many
of not seeing any.
This is still unbelievable
as you just don't picture
inches of snow
weather in the
’Mojave Desert' The climate is the
main reason many people (retired
especially) choose Victorville as
their home In a recent survey,
"Why did you choose the valley
as your home?", many said, "Be
cause of the ideal weather,
reasons, uncrowded living
tions, and just escaping the
and bustle of city living.'
dint th nk when people answered
these survey questions they ex
pected to see a foot of snow over
the mountain and
area four days later!
This is the most severe snow
storm since 1957 when 10 inches
fell •’
storm long time residents are re
calling is the one of January 1949
when the desert was blitzed un
der a blanket of more than two
feet of snow
1 guess if you live long enough
you will see many unbelievable
sights and I have seen one of
those! I thought the hometown
folks would like to see what the
weather in the desert islike
1 think the kids enjoyed this
more than anyone, as all schools
in the area were let out.because
schools and families just aren't
prepared for weather as severe
as this has been here You could
see many snow men in any direc
tion you looked Tuesday the
and Wednesday the 18th,
people having to dig their
out from under snow so
could get to work.
Sgt Dees was one of the___
shoveling his way out the front
door and down the sidewalk to
his rar and sweeping off snow
All the while he was shaking his
head, sort of mumbling to him-
self The folks back hi Smithville
would never believe this!"
