the candidates were beat.
Rev. J. B. Tidwell filled his regular
appointment here Saturday and Sun-
day. Bro. Fred Gentry will preach at
Pleasant Grove church on the 3d Sun-
day at 11 o clock.
An infant babe of Mr. and Mrs.
Collins was buried at Pleasant Grove
cemetery T uesday March 37th.
Messrs Frank Plaxco, Sam Gentry,
and Willie Belew went to Bridgeport
Tuesday to hear Bailey speak.
Mr. and Mrs. E. E Plaxco, of Clay
Co., were visitors in this vicinity from
Thursday until Sunday last. They
returned Sunday accompanied by Mrs.
Plaxco’* sister, Miss, Sallie Clegg..
Miss Myrtle Durrett, of Lancaster
has been visiting the family of W. B.
Durrett near here this week.
At the home of the bride’s parents,
on March 39, at 8:30 p. m, 1900, Mr.
Harley Clegg and Miss Ivie Durett
were married. Those present had a
nice time and lots of supper and the
reception dinner the following day at
Mr. Cleggs was nice. Your scribe was
one of the attendants. The bride and
and groom received quite a
number of wedding presents. We join
their many friends in congratulations
and good wishes for the future hap-
piness for the bride and groom.

John Morrissey is said to have made
$700,000 out of No. 818 Broadway
in seven yean, but this is small gam-
bling in comparison with the revenues
of an ancient house in Ixxxlon, which
cleared in the season of 1788 over
$750,000. In one night a million of
money is said to have changed hands
in this place. In a downtown street
in the financial district, not far from
Exchange place, are three windows
