A local journalist and res-
ident has become the seventh
person to file for a seat on the
Pasadena Independent School
District Board of Trustees.
Allan C. Kimball, 30, of
11011 Sageorchard, announced
his candidacy Friday for the
position six seat.
Kimball joins challengers
Michael Carr of Pasadena,
Don Bane of sagecliff who Is
employed by Wood Brother
home, and Incumbent J.D.
Bruce la the race for po-
sition six.
‘The one Issue that got me
Involved In this race was the
carpeting (approved turf) of
Memorial Stadium,’ Kimball
explained. ‘The school board,
at the Inslstance of the Cham-
ber of Commerce, rushed the
$400,000 funding for the art-
ificial turf through too quick-
ly. No one was paying atten-
tion to the fact that most
voters In PISD were against
the turf.’ Kimball cited a
recent telephone poll that
showed 85 percent of area
residents were against the
artificial turf.
‘Just think of the education-
al things that $400,000 could
have been spent on Instead
of fake grass,' Kimball re-
ported.
“I would do everything I
could to get the funding re-
versed,' Kimball promised.
‘If It’s too late, then I would
assure no spending proposal
would ever be pushed through
the Board again.'
The new candidate said that
before evqry vote, he would
conduct a personal phone poll
to get a true feeling of the
thoughts of PISD voters on
the issue at hand,
