A grass fire, which started about
11 o’clock Thursday morning on the
S. S. Bryson place, about 4 miles
south of Lampasas on Highway 66,
burned ovet a large area and had
not been put under control at the
time of going to press this afternoon.
The fire burned over all the pastures
in the Bryson place and had spread
into the Tcm Childers ranch and the
Paine place.
All the sheep on the Bryson place
were saved from the fire.
The fire started when a man plow-
ing in one of the fields started burn-
ing the grass off a small plot of
ground, in order to plow it. A spark
blew into the pasture, and as the
grass was so dry it caught quickly
and spread so rapidly it could not be
put out.
An alarm was sent in to the local
fire department about 12 o’clock and
volunteer workers went to assjsl in
fighting the blaze. Another alarm
was turned in about 1 o’clock and
more workers were sent out to help
beat out the fire. A report at 2:30
from the scene of the fire, stated that
the blaze was spreading into the ad-
joining pastures and the workers had
not been able to put the blaze under
control. 1
Will be on display. A FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE
will be here to explain the new features.
