City The scene at the Mundas’ - with snowmen, Santas, a Nativity

Knots
A knot in a rope can be a useful thing, but not always.
There are many, many types of knots, and most of them are formed
by bending the rope back on its self. The tighter it is, the harder it
is to untie. Add moisture and time, and it may never get untied. A
rope can become non-useful with a knot in it, and the knot is its
weakest point.
Our lives are much the same as the rope. When well taken
care of, no kinks or knots, we have few problems. When we put a
knot in our life, such as a lie, it then becomes the most noticeable
thing. When we tie another knot to try and cover the first it just
compounds the problem. As long as the knot is there it gets in the
way, then becomes tighter with time and pressure on it. Our life can
become so full of knots that it feels like a length of rope that you
want to cast aside. There is a way to remove every knot from your
life. God said to confess your sins to Him and He will forgive you.
When is the last time you let the Master untie the knots in
your life? Talk to Him.

Dell City Book Club Review
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens
by Sean Covey
The book The 7 Habits of Highly Ef-
fective Teens teaches teenagers proactive skills
that they can use in everyday life. The book
allows you to look at old values from a different
perspective. The author, Sean Covey, derived his
ideas from his father Stephan R. Covey’s book
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and
other teenagers’ experiences to make it more
relatable to a younger audience. Sean Covey
broke the book down into seven habits: Habit 1 - Be proactive;
Habit 2 - Begin with the end in mind; Habit 3 - Put first things
first; Habit 4 - Think win-win; Habit 5 - Seek first to understand,
then to be understood; Habit 6 - Synergize; and Habit 7 - Sharpen
the saw.
Our club rated this book a 3.5 because many of the les-
sons taught in the book are already values that we hold true. Still
this book acted like a mentor to all the readers. Over all it was a
wonderful read, and we will follow some of the life skills provided.
We encourage all preteens and teenagers to read and experience this
book. Look forward to our next book review on The Borrower by
Rebecca Makkai.
