RE: Plans - Texas Prudential Insurance Company
Building wings -- 1371 X 38'= 4, 2
Correction: Zwiener says 6 floors each 4, 986 sq. ft. - almost th.
equivalent of a city lot 5, 040 sq. ft. 6 floors 36, 410 sq. ft. overal
Corridors are 10 ft. wide as against ours 5' 4", entirely too wide bi
c ally,
Some mention made of putt:
Any other systerr would be bad whe*
hos
but it is stated that it is not large enough. Another Accounting Departme:
is on the floor above. It seems to me that a re-arrangement should be ma
where all the Accounting Department could be in one room or adjacent to ea(
other.
Elevators are badly placed. They should be placed more nearly the cente
of the building than at the north end. They should correspond and be adjace.-L
to the entrances on 21st and 22nd Streets.
Cautioned them as to electrical wiring that should be carefully measured
and resolved, measured also for future use with accounting machines, electric
typewriters, and other electrical equipment as it will soon be found that their
activities are limited such as we are in our building by not having heavy enough
wiring to carry the additions that will com-.e in time.
Zwiener told me that they did not want concealed wiring because dirt got in
the holes and caused trouble, that Wallace wanted the wires carried in molding
on top of the floor. This is impractical, undesirable, would cause tripping and
stumbling and the flooring can be taken up in places so as to permit concealed
wiring which does not give as much trouble as the molding with dirt and anything
else.
