TOUR_______
Continued from page one
A Santa that Gina’s par-
ents bought when they were
first married is set in the din-
ing room. A table of crystal
and a wine collection
accented the large cherry
wood table that held a
manger scene.
In the kitchen stands a
white tree with lights.
Cookie cutters and candy
canes in the shape of hearts
adorn another tree. On the
refrigerator, Gina displays
an original Easy Bake Oven.
Another wine collection is
shown off in the kitchen
area. Dark red paint adorns
the walls of the kitchen.
The doggie room will be
shown during the tour. This
room will have a special
guest. A green tree is deco-
rated with blue dog bones,
red stockings and a dog as a
tree topper. A sewing
machine that was passed
down from Gina’s mother
sits in the room.
A juke box that plays 45’s
is displayed in the next
room. Green light up garland
with 45’s hanging from it
accents each window. Bunk
beds with Christmas covers
and pillows are decorated
with a green tree with 45’s
on it as well as a leather
Betty Boop jacket. Green
and gold garland frame the
bed. A pool table decorated
with a tree has a bowling pin
painted as Santa on it.
The bedroom downstairs
is considered the hankie
room. According to Gina,
“This is the room that they
would rent out during the
Thelma P. Jones has been writing poetry since 1949.
POET

moved from place to place
working on the farms,
Thelma says she learned a
lot about life.
Through her brother, she
met her first husband,
Earnest. The couple adopted
their first son, Billy Joe,
when he was 3-weeks-old.
Five years later, Thelma
gave birth to their second
son, Bobby Arnold. Thelma
and Earnest celebrated many
years of marriage before he
passed away. "After his
death," she said, "I said I
would never get married
again. However," she
laughed, "You shouldn't say
you'll 'never' do something
because the good Lord will
change your mind some-
times."
Time passed and she was
introduced to Morris Jones
by his daughter whose son
was playmates with
Thelma's grandson. Soon
after they met, Thelma real-
ized they had a lot in com-
mon, and the two began
spending more time togeth-
er. Then, they did what
Thelma had said she'd never
do again, and got married.
They enjoyed their time
together before his death by
going to car shows, horse
races and such just for fun.
Now, Thelma holds her
memories dear, and lovingly
looks back through her book
of poems that she has writ-
ten. She said anytime she
needs inspiration, or a little
lifting up, she can look back
through her poems and
begins to feel better. Two of
her poems are as follows:
"Shed No Tears For Me" < 1993)
Shed no tears for me when I'm gone
I'm only asleep and not alone
Why mourn for this house of clay?
My spirit has gone on its way.
My life here on earth is done
Victory over death has been won
No more sorrow, disappointment or grief
Through my Jesus I've found relief.
Dry your eyes and wear a smile
I hope to see you in a little while.
I'm tired and weary in body and soul,
There's rest with Jesus I've been told.
I've gone to claim that release
Where there’s joy, rest and peace.
Be happy, lift high your head,
I'm only sleeping. I'm not dead.
This is only a house of clay
My work is done. I'm on my way.
Now won't you all join your hands?
I'll wait for you in Glory Land.
"A Little Bird" (1970)
I saw a little bird go fleeting by.
It soared up toward the sky
It sang so sweet and merrily
ft seemed to sing only to me
As it winged its way across the street
Each note was perfect, loud and sweet
A sweeter song I never heard
I'm sure God knew every word
It used no book with notes written down
Or any string instrument to make a sound
But as it warbled along the way
It lifted my heart for a better day
As I sat gazing out my window sad and blue
I didn't know just what to do
Then this little bird came singing its song
Then I knew I'd never be all alone
Little things are special, sometime overdue
But the day I didn't know what to do
God sent that little bird singing my way
I knew then God's love was with me to stay.
♦This happened one Sunday afternoon. 1 was alone, sad and
blue. Amazing how some things happen just when you need it!
war.” A small tree will be
decorated with hankies.
The house still contains
the original pained windows,
although over time storm
windows have been put in
over them.
The couple who has two
children, Lory Jackson and
Ginny Smith, bought the
house in 2001.
