accounting classes at SHS
last week.
Rodgers spoke to the
classes about courses

year course and
occupations available
after graduation.
Rodgers brought two
assistants to assist him in
the program. They were
Joel Rodriquez and
Tammy Holbrooks.
Tammy is a 1980 graduate
of SHS.

1940’s at Lincoln High on the day of

season much like Stamford did this

Homemaking students
begin sewing projects
The director ox this year’s senior
{traduction is Mrs. Lillian Souther-
and and as far as drama goes in one
act plays, (OAP) she is known as the
"lady of success” because of her
talents and determination to be
“the best.” She has proved this
through her direction of OAP’s in
the past that reach state level
almost every year. This is the lady
who stays up countless hours
deciding on how to make the play
"that much better.” She can take a
simply written play such as “The
Ugly Duckling” and make it a state
contender.
Of course, no director can be
without an assistant. Her assistant
is Jan Hammer, special education
teacher and honorary Thespian
She has helped Mrs Southerland
for a number of years using her
valuable time to make sure the
production is “that much better.”
She spends long hours creating new
ideas to put into the production and
make it more enjoyable. This
comes fom a creative mind and
hard work. As one of the lines goes,
"her brain teemeth with good
ideas...”
You have heard the saying “two
beads are better than one? Well,
make room for one more head.

The junior varsity boys
played the Santa Anna
Mountaineers Jan. 15 and
were defeated 52-28.
Wayne Seay was top scorer
with 11 points.
The Bulldogs played the
Merkel Badgers Tuesday
night but the scores were
not available at press time.

in the teaching field. Shee
has been a teacher's aide
for 10 years in the Haskell
and Stamford schools. She
taught six years in Haskell
before coming to
Stamford. In Stamford she
helped as an aid in the
Migrant and Special
Education Programs.
Mrs. Sanchez will be
helping Miss Green for the
rest of this year and hopes
to be back next year.
She commented, "I’m
glad to be back, that's for
sure! I enjoyed being at
home, but when you’ve
worked so many
years...it’s just nice to be
back!!”

sewing simple patterns in
order to learn basic
techniques.

first two league games
Stamford varsity
Basketball team traveled
to Santa Anna to take on
the Mountaineers. Befor
eplayirg the Stamford
Bulldogs, Santa Anna had
won 19 of their last 20
games.
The Bulldogs defeated
the Mountaineers in a
game that went down to the
wire before the Bulldogs
pulled out a 67-64 victory
Bart Rosenquist was high
point of the night with 21
points. Coach Ken Fowler
commented that, "Jim
Muehlstein did a fine job
against Santa Anna’s 6*5”
senior center who rolled up
26 points against the
Rulldnff.
The Freshmen
basketball team was
defeated by the Wylie
Bulldogs, Jan. 18, in the
Wylie gymnasium. Charles
Applin was high point of
the night scoring eight of
the Stamford Bulldog 29
points.
