I Armchair Trip To
South America
An armchair trip around South
America visiting schools supported
by the Methodists was enjoyed by
the Women’s Society of Christian
Service Monday afternoon at the
home of Mrs. H. D. Read with
Mrs. C. A. Hood as the narrator.
In an interesting manner Mrs.
Hood touched upon the beauty of
the terrain, its people and indust-
ry as she carried her audience to
each center supported by the
church.
“Prayer” was the subject of
devotions ably presented by Miss
Audrey Herring. As a prelude
Mrs. Read offered on the piano
“Sweet Hour of Prayer.”
During the business period mem-
bers voted to purchase two serv-
ing tables for the church dini::g
room.
Other groups of the church are
pledging to purchase tables with
the view of completely equipping
the dining room with new tables.
Mrs. Read concluded her hospi-
tality by serving a dessert course.
Guests sharing the afternoon
were Mrs. James Curlin, Mrs. W.
P. Witt, Miss Sally McIntyre, and
Mrs. Rowland Peters and Mrs.
Steve Barron of Denton.
The society will resume its win-
ter scheduled with two meetings
a month starting in September.
Elaine White left Wichita Falls
Saturday by train for Amarillo for
a week’s visit with her uncle and
aunt, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Taylor
and uncle, J. C. Henry. She will
be accompanied home by the Tay-
lors who will visit several days
here with Mr. and Mrs. John
Henry and Mr. and Mrs. T. R.

Roy Carlson of Dallas and Sara
McBurnett of Palmer. Each were
Mr. Brown is a graduate of
Goldburg High school of the 1952
class and is employed as station
clerk at the MKT railroad.

here of the marriage, July 22, at
Gainesville of Miss Sue Thomp-
son, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N.
W. Thompson, 601 Baylor, and
Virgil Jean Horner, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Eb Homer, also of Nocona.
The Rev. Craig, pastor of First
Methodist church, performed the
single ring ceremony.
The couple was unattended.
Both Mr. Homer and his bride
attended Nocona High school. Mr.
Horner is employed as a carpen-
ter for Buddy Bell.
The newlyweds are living in
Nocona.

taught school at the same time in
Midland. Miss Roberson was a

Wedding guests, who included
members of the immediate fami
lies and close friends, were in-
vited to the dining room after the
exchange of vows and were serv-
ed wedding cake and punch. The
tiered cake, topped with miniature
bride and groom, centered a lace
spread table. Magestic daisies
made up the floral piece and sil-
ver and crystal appointments were
used.
Cousins of the bride assisted in
the dining room. Miss Glenda
Priddy of Fort Worth serving the
cake and Miss Dura Young of
Wichita Falls presiding at the
punch bowl.
| The new Mrs. Brown completed
her high school work this sum-
dressed in pink net taffeta which
was similar to those worn by the
honor attendants

Bobby Elkins, also of Nocona,
served the bridegroom as best
man Ushers were O. E. Hill,
Delton Halloway of Wichita Falls
and Kenneth Nelson of Lubbock.
The bride was attired in a full
length, white organdy dress, fash-
ioned with long sleeves and round
collar. She wore a veil attached
to a headdress, ornamented with
seed pearls, and her bridal bou-
quet included a white orchid with
stephanotis.
Maids of nonor were dressed in
moss green net over taffeta with
sweetheart necklines. Thev car-
ried bouquets of picardy gladiolus.
Mrs. Wilda Medford and Roy
Everett provided the nuptial
music.
Following the ceremony a recep-
tion was held at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. William Richey, where
a three-tiered wedding cake was
served from a centerpiece of white
gladiolus. Miss Malta Evans and
Mrs. Wagley Seymour presided at
the refreshment table. Several
out-of-town guests also attended
the reception.

night at a slumber party, complete
