Pearsall — Bill Kempf had a
race with the stork last ‘week—
and you might say it was a
dead heat. He brought his wife
here from Dilley in his car. Pie
just barely reached the door of
the hospital, and was able to get
a nurse who assisted in the
birth of his daughter in the car.
The baby was named Pauline
and weighed' 8 pounds. When
the doctor arrived 5 minutes
later' he found that mother and 1
daughter were doing fine. Poor
papa was panicked.

Port Lavaca—The crowd was
growing somewhat restless at
the stock car racing arena here
last week. A “daredevil” stunt
man was delaying his drive
through a flaming wall while an
assistant tried to take up a col-
