Workshop
The Austin County Fruit and Nut
Committee will be sponsoring a
budding and grafting workshop on
Monday, April 7,1986, at 5 p.m. The
workshop will be held at Sts. Peter
and Paul Catholic Church in Bell-
ville.
Dr. George Ray McEachern, Tex-
as Agricultural Extension Service
State Horticulturalist, will be the
workshop instructor. Dr. McEach-
ern will demonstrate the techniques
of budding and grafting. These tech-
niques will be demonstrated utlizing
a pecan tree at the church. These
same techniques are also applicable
to many type fruit trees.
The group will also view a tree at
the workshop that was utilized at a
similar activity in 1984. The success
rate on that tree was excellent.
Yours can be too with the proper
training and practice. There will be
a limited amount of graftwood
available from some of the commit-
tee members. Participants will be
able to get the "knife in hand" if
they choose.
