In Sweden, the Christmas season is
ushered in on December 13th by "St.
Lucia," In reality, she is the eldest
daughter of the family.
Dressed in white and wearing a
wreath with candles on her head, she
brings coffee and cakes to the dther
members of the family.
On this same day, young Swedish
men and women wearing long, white
robes serenade their friends and bring
them refreshments. Called Lucia
brides and Star boys, the young
women carry candles and the young
men carry silver stars.
