Dies At Home
Lewis Napoleon (Poley) Ben-
ton of 708 North Grayson in
Nocona, died Sunday at about
3 p.m. at his home. He was 77.
Funeral services were at 2
p.m. Wednesday, March 4, in
the chapel of Scott Bros. Funer-
al Home. Burial was in Nocona
Cemetery. Officiating for final
rites were Rev, W. D. Craig
and Rev. Roy Sanders.
Benton, a retired rancher,
was born July 10, 1880 in No-
cona. the son of the late Tay-
lor and Lena Attaway Benton.
His wife, the former Miss Ger-
trude Marchbanks, preceded
him in death. Benton was a
member of the Baptist Church.
Surviving are one son, Ar-
thur Benton of Banning, Calif.,
three sisters, Mrs. Zelda Walk-
er of Nocona, Mrs. Nancy Deg-
er of Wellington. Texas, and
Mrs. Abbey Collins of
Springs, Arkansas.
