The < barter members of the Young
Men's Association met Friday night
at the rooms of the Chamber of
Conimeroe their fvrst business
meiting, for the purpose of electing
temporary officers and fixing a fi-
nancial basis upon which to work
for the organization and perpetuity
of the society. Fifteen or twenty
mt-mbers were Present who showed
a spirit of eagerness and enthus-
iasm. Each member was call-
ed upon by Secretary Geo. Roark of
the Chamber of Commerce to ex
press his Id'-as upon the movement-
Several good idea8 of societies' or-
ganization and perpetuity were given
by the members and especially
the one asking aid from the citizen*
of Denton and the mother*, of the
city.
It was also stated thAt the pur-
pose of this society should be di-
vulged to the public in order that
no wrong imprisslon of it might be
formed... The purpose of the socle
ty ia to draw the young men of
Denton into more sociable positlon
by throwing them r\ contact in the
different mode of entertainments for
young men Nothing obscene or
immoral will be allowed. Magazines
of the highest type will be contract-
ed for by the month, and books from
the best writers will be placed in the
reading department. A gymnasium
outfit ih full will be. purchased and
placed in the society for the physical
training of the young men..
The members especially asked
that the citizens would give this
society their close consideration and
if possible extend them their aid.
It was suggested that the women,,
of Denton, would be glad to contri-
bute pot flowers and such for the
decoration of the hall Committees
for different purposes were named
by the chairman to do their re-
spective work in the coming week
and reprt at the next business
meeting, set for next Friday night
Temporary Chairman Curtis Fry

will be held as active officers until
the society moves its headquarters,
