Writing a news article in Decern ber
with Christmas only 12 days off is a
trying experience. We just got the tree
put up at home and deciding what to
get the nieces and nephews is a trying
experience. So, the best I can do is my
version of the 12 Days of Christmas.
I’ll just number the days so you won’t
feel obligated to sing as you read this.
On the first day of Christmas
—I hope the greenbug and rust
problems in wheat just go away so we
don’t have to spend the wife’s Christ-
mas money on spraying.
Second (Go ahead and hum if it
puts you in the spirit).
—An early spring with no late
freezes so we can have a good peach
and grape crop in 1989.
Third.
—Good cow and calf prices. This
past year has been wonderful for calf
producers and this makes up over 90%
of the agriculture income in Montague
County.
Fourth
—An average year for rainfall.
Drought this year resulted in poor
yields for hay, vegetables and fruit
crops.
Fifth.
—A marketing group established
for fruits and vegetables. We have a
great opportunity to make Montague
County a major supplier of these crops
if we can get a standard set for grading
present a program of special music at
the Nocona First Baptist Church
Monday night.
Thelma Goolsby attended open
house at Horizon Manor Nursing Home
fa Nocona Sunday afternoon.
The traditional Christmas program
was presented at the Spanish Fort
Baptist Church Sunday night at 7 to a
targe group of local citizens and
aumerous former residents.
The program was enhanced with
the appearance of Santa with gifts for
fae children.
A fellowship hour of visiting and
refreshments of cookies, candy, nuts
and punch climaxed the evening's

Christmas
We would

events in commemoration of the birth
of Christ.
Friday overnight guests of Ida and
Zella Rose were Kevin Loudamy and
Pat Haney from Tyler.
The children’s choir had a special
treat Sunday afternoon when the
church and WMU sponsored a trip for
the group to attend the Nutcracker
Ballet at Memorial Auditorium in
Wichita Falls. They were accompa-
nied by adults Paula Tompkins, Carol
Nichols, Betty Brazier, James and
Cherry Shupp.
Final preparations are being made
by everyone to have Christmas with
families next weekend.
To each of you a Merry Christmas
and Happy New Year.

Building Improvements
Legionaires Robert Thomas, and Mac McAlvain help Bill Brown install
the last ceiling tile in the American Legion Building. Major improvements
have been made to both the interior and exterior of the structure in recent
weeks.
Lemons Photography and many of their Christmas
gift portrait customers joined together with the Nocona
Volunteer Fire Department to donate over $600 worth of new
toys to be given to deserving children at Christmas. Portrait
customers were given the option of donating a nice toy in
lieu of paying the usual portrait session fee. In this way,
many people were involved in making a child's Christmas a
little brighter. Larry and Donna Lemons offer their apprecia-
tion to all of their customers who made this project such a
great success.
May God richly bless you and your family during this
season of Celebration and Joy as we remember the birth of
Our Savior.
Our Wish is a blessed
and your loved ones,
thunk all our friends
year. We appreciate you very much.
Merry Christmas.

Sixth
—Establishment of a youth center.
While rearing youngsters in a rural
environment certainly has its advan-
tages, some opportunities are limited
due to community facilities and activi-
ties.
Seventh.
—Squash bug resistant crops and
$40 oil.
Eighth
—Maybe just a few squash bugs
but $30 oil.
Ninth
—An end to the disease troubles
causing our oak trees to die and weed
free gardens.
Tenth
—A seedless watermelon that costs
less than $1,000 per pound. Ever
wonder where they get these seed.
Eleventh
—A remote control for the TV that
has a built in beeper so you can find it
when your kids leaves it in the bath-
room.
Twelfth
—Another year about like this one
cause if we have m uch control over the
weather, market prices and crop pests
we would surely mess it up really bad.
From the County Extension Office
and the Texas Agricultural Extension
Service, we wish you a happy holiday
season.
