Clifton and Millie Dean enjoyed having their daughter Frances
Shrum and her two daughters Carye and Dani here Saturday and
Sunday. They came from Horizon.
Saturday, I went with Scott and Becky Lewis and my granddaughter
Emily to San Angelo to attend the wedding of Blake Gentry and
Sarah Burnett. It was a beautiful outdoor wedding at the Granger
Lodge near Mertzon, Texas. Following the wedding ceremony there
was a dinner and dance. It was a fun evening. Sunday morning
we left San Angelo and drove home. I went home with Scott and
Becky and spent the night with them at the Wind Mountain Ranch.
Monday, I babysat Emily while Scott and Becky did some ranch
work.
The Jones family traveled to Midland, Texas this weekend to attend
the Foy Proctor Memorial Cowman’s Awards ceremony. The
event was held at Haley Park behind the Haley Library and History
Center. Two of the honorees were friends of the Jones family. Bob
and Elizabeth and Bobby and Pat traveled together to Midland on
Saturday. Saturday afternoon, they enjoyed listening to storytelling
sessions and western music. While in Midland, they visited Ty and
Michelle Greeman and their two year old grandson Trey. Sunday,
the family went to breakfast and enjoyed one more visit before
coming home to Crow Flat.
Saturday, Kearney Lewis came to Crow Flat to spend the weekend
with his parents, Andy and Nora Lea Lewis. Gary and Kay
Scarbrough were also here for the weekend. Saturday and Sunday,
Gary went to the Schafer Ranch to help Jonna Lou Schafer and Dale
Leith work cattle. Kearney and Kay and Janet Myers did some work
around Andy and Nora Lea’s place. The family had a good weekend
together.
At Blake and Sarah’s wedding, I had a good visit with my good
friends, Buff and Shelly Templeton and their son Travis and their
daughter Katy Capron and her husband Wilson. It was really
good to see them and we did a lot of catching up at the wedding
and continued later that night at the motel. Buff and Shelly live in
Burnet, Texas. Buff drives a truck in the Burnet area and Shelly
is selling cars at a Chevrolet dealership. Katy and Wilson live in
Midland and work together at their home business, “Capron Bits and
Spurs.” Travis also lives in Midland and he is working for an oil
company, Baker Petrolite. Pryor and his wife Paige and their two
year old son Rylan live in Odessa. Pryor is a Texas State Trooper.
Mason is a senior this year and will graduate in December from the
University of Arkansas. Buff and Shelly were longtime residents of
Dell City and very active in our community. It was good to see them
and hear that they are happy and doing well.
A cold front came through Crow Flat this last week forcing folks to
scramble to get their heat turned on. The morning temperatures have
been in the 30’s, but the afternoons warm up and have been quite
pleasant.
Thursday, I went with Jane and Jonna Lou Schafer to Alamogordo.
We attended the Otero County Commissioners meeting at the
courthouse. The agenda items of significant interest were two
ordinances. One ordinance was prohibiting the release of the
Mexican grey wolf, grizzly bear, and the jaguar into Otero County.
The second ordinance was concerning the World Heritage Site
applications and designations in Otero County. Both ordinances
were approved by the commissioners. Also attending this meeting
from Crow Flat was Bob Jones, Bobby Jones, Jean Lee, Linda Lee,
and Bebo Lee.

Instead of purchasing

is approximately $600 and
they can be painted, and
windows and doors can
be added to make them
more attractive. They will
be investigated by board
