Word from Pilot Point Wednesday
was that everything is in readiness
for the session of the Old Settiers’ as-
sociation which meets there Thursday
for a three days’ reunion and picnie.
Arrangements have been made to take
care of big crowds on all three days,
and amusements have been secured
for the entertainment of visitors. A
number of early settlers from here are
arranging to attend one or more days'.
There w>ll be talks by pioneer citi-
zens, reminiscent of early days in the

yesterday as opposing the continuance
of the dangerous railroad grade cross-
ings in the city. A list of recent cas-
ualties, several of them fatal, due to
grade crossings was given in a com-
munication to the City Commission,
asking a betterment.

Orphans’ Home at Corsitana played

-L. T. Davis, aged 67 years, died at
his ffome. on North Elm street at 12:30
Wednesday, following an illness of
eight months with a dropsical affec-
tion. Most of that long time he had
been able to sit up, but last Friday,
weakened by the ravages of the dis-
ease, he had to give up and go to ned.
He had bpen unconscious since Mon-
day night. *
Mr. Davis had been a resident of
Texas for sixty years, coming here
from Mississippi when a boy of seven.
He graduated at Washington and Lee
University, and in spite of his tender
age enlisted in the Confederate army,
serving with General John B. Hood's
brigade during
service with the
Virginia.
Mr. Davis was
ford up to about six years ago, when
he moved to Denton, since which time,
with the exception of the cotton-buy-
ing season, he had been a citizen of
Denton. He was married here to Mrs.
McDonald on December 26, 1906, who,
together with an adopted son, D. K.
Davis, of Orchard Park, N. M., sur-
vives him.
He had been a member of the Metho-
dist Church, South, for many years.
The body will be shipped Thursday
to his old home at ^Weatherford for
burial.
