The cotton blight that has affected
the cotton fields in the sandy land sec-
tion of the county south of Denton is
reported by the farmers to be spread-
ing to fields on the black land on the
prairie where it is doing severe dam-
age to the crop. For several weeks
the blight has been noticeable in the
fields on the sandy land, but it was
thought it was possibly due to scalding
of the plant by the heavy rain after a
two-months drouth but the last few
days the blight has been noticeable in
the fields on the prairie and the choice

Total cost for ten tons $19.45In an address before the Denton Coun-
ty Diversification and Marketing Asso- j
elation Saturday afternoon, Dr. W. H. I
Gowan, president of the association,!
told of his experiences in using the silo!
and raising and handling ensilage crops.
He gave personal experiences of him-
self and others with whom he had talk-
ed.
He said: “My experience, and that of
others, is that red top sorghum is the
best crop to plant for filling the silo
in this section of the country. The red
top surghum yields as great or greater,
tonnage per acre than any of the other
sorghums ami a great d^al more than
corn. It withstands the vicissitudes of
the weather better than any of the
sweet sorghums and being of a larger
stalk and not so tall it will straighten
up better if beaten down. Then it
matures somewhat earlier than most of
the sorghums, thus increasing our
chance for a fall or second crop, which
is good for silage and better for hay
or roughage than the first crop. It is
important in making good silage to cut
the crop,'Whatever it may be, in the
proper stage of maturity, and to tramp
and pack it well-w hen it is being haul-
ed in.
“You would naturally ask if the silo
pays, and from my own experience I
would say it does. However. I will
give figures showing what can be made

The May Apple Liver Tonic
May Apple is an old time liver medi-

is sometimes called Vegetable Calomel.
In Po-Do-Lax May Apple is combined
with other well-known liver remedies,
making Po-Do-Lax the ideal liver medi-
cine. It arouses the liver, increases
