murder of Joe Jackson and John W.
Raynes, Katy brakemen, and the finding
of their bodies on a freight train here
the morning of March 25, but there has
been no definite solution of the mystery
given out by the Sheriffs department
beyond the arrests on suspicion. The
two negroes, Clarence Green and Gene
Lawson, are still held in the Jail here.
Green, it Is said, has not- changed his
second purported confession,, in which
he admitted that he himself did the kill-
ing. ■
The Sheriff’s office force Is still work-
ign on the matter, however, and believe
they would have had the matter Cleared
up before now had i( not been foritha-

He was taken to Collinsville in a buggy,
suffering Very much from his injuries;,
and brought to Dehton on a stretcher
after a preliminary examination of his
hurts and sonje relief from medical at-
