the city limits’ signs, said
McClenny. City employees will
do an analysis of the impact that
real estate, residential and sales
taxes have in this area and the
income generated by businesses
there.
McClenny says if enough tax
money is generated from busi-
nesses and residences in this area,
Lindale could eventually benefit
from the revenue. It would be
one way to keep from raising
taxes, he said. People in Lindale
need to support one another by
supporting the businesses here.
“We are trying to hold taxes
down, said McClenny. “I believe
if the ecconomy is depressed we
shouldn’t raise taxes and hurt
people who are already hurting.”
According to City Manager
Owen Scott, the total budget will
have little variation from the $ 1.5
million budgeted for fiscal year
1991-92.

Council settles budget
Budget woes apparently are
over for the City of Lindale. Ac-
cording to Mayor Bob
McClenny, all that is needed for
the budget to be accepted is the
formality of presenting it on the
agenda for the September 15,
City Council meeting so that City
Council members can officially
approve it.
“The budget will go as pre-
sented,” said McClenny. “The
problems have been ironed out.”
Included in the budget is a pay
raise for city employees who have
six months or more service with
the city. Raises will go into ef-
fect in October, said McClenny.
This is when the fiscal year be-
gins for the city.
The city has money allocated
for a study to determine whether
it is feasible for the City of
Lindale to put a city sewer sys-
tem in the one-mile area on High-
way 69 South that lies between
