Candlelight Ceremony Unites
Bonnie Collins, Ben Pierson
Miss Bonnie Sue Collins and i
Emil Benjamin Pierson ex-
changed wedding vows Nov. 27,
surrounded by an aura of can-
dlelight in the First Presby-
terian Church of Alvin. The
Rev. F. Lindsay Moffett, pas-
tor, officiated for the double-
ring ceremony.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Collins of
Alvin are pa rents of the bride.
The groom's parents are Mr.
and Mrs. A. J. Pierson, Sr. of
Sweetwater.
In the church sanctua ry",
there was an all-white ar-
rangement of gladioli, large
and small chrysanthemums
and accented by caspia. It was
flanked by two seven-branched
candelabra and two large altar
candles, plac ed on the commu-
nion table, burned throughout
the ceremony.
Mrs. Frank Duke of Alvin
provided music at the organ,
including "The Song of Ruth”
and selections from Bach, spe-
cial requests of the bride who
had taken music from Mrs.
Duke.
Escorted to the altar and
given in marriage by her fa-
ther, the bride’s three-piece
wedding ensemble was design-
ed and made by her mother.
Hostess pants were worn with
an overskin of silk applique,
and the tuck-in blouse featured
a standup collar and sleeves
gathered to buttoned cuffs. A
large silk bow. falling into
ankle-length streamers, held
the belt of the overskirt in -
center back.
Her shoulder-length veil of i
illusion was caught byapearl- ,
ized tiara accented with a large
but soft bow to frame her face, i
She carried a cascade of white .
poms and caspia, centered with I
red becerra roses.
Mrs. Gordon Methvin of Al-
vin was matron of honor and |
bridesmaids were Mrs. Doug- I
las Kendrick of Houston and
Miss Becky Helton of Hous-
ton.
The attendants wore identi-
cal formal dresses featuring
fitted bodices of olive green
velvet and gathered skirts of
multi-colored silk print. The
bodices were identical in de-
sign to the bride's blouse, and
green velvet sashes were
caught in large bows lined
with the same silk print.
In their hair, each attendant
wore a green velvet bow which
fell into long streamers. They
carried nosegays of yellow
poms and becerra roses with
green velvet streamers.
Best man was John Ridener
of Austin andgrooi ismenwere
Tim Trickey and Till Fischer,
both of Austin. Serving as us-
hers — and lighting the can-
dles — were Gordon Methvin
of Alvin and Donnie Marek of
Houston.
Mrs. Collins chose a cho-
colate brown crepe dress and
overskirt trimmed with gold
braid. f3rown accessories
complemented tier ensemble,
and her corsage was formed
from a yellow cymbidium or-
chid.
The groom's mother wore a
two-piece knit suit of pale
raspberry, and she chose
brown accessories. A pale
green cymbidium orchid was
her corsage.
Miss Mary Burks of AJvin
registered 150 guests at the
reception in the educational
building of the church. Other
members of the liouseparty
were Mrs. Guy Comeaux, New
Orleans; Miss Judy Florence -
and Miss Suzanna Florence of
Houston, cousins of the bride;
Mrs. Tim Trickey, Austin,
and Mrs. Jerry Chamblee of
Sweeny, cousin of the bride.
The registry table was dra-
ped in white tulle over satin
and held a single yellow rose,
placed in a sculpture of "The
Praying Hands.” A s,crollwith
a globular votive candle bank-
ed the arrangement.
A garland of greenery di-
rected guests from tlie receiv-
ing line to the bride's table.
Covered in hand-embroidered
tulle over satin, the table was
centered with a double ring
wedding cake placed upon a
mirror. Two five-branched
silver candelabra enhanced ei-
ther side of the cake.
Hurricane lamps and ar-
rangements of white chrysan-
themums accented the gar-
lands of greenery leading to
the groom's table. A nine-
branched silver candelabra
was placed on his table, ac-
cented by an arrangement in
green and yellow. Chocolate
cake with yellow decoration
and punch from a silver bowl
were served.
A white wrought-iron cart
held rice bags at the combina-
tion gift and coffee service ta-
ble. Accents of color were pro-
vided through green leather
fem and autumn leaves.
