the home of his aunt, Mrs. Clorine

White carnations were used in dec-
orating the table from which the
three-tiered wedding cake adorned
with gold and silver leaves was serv-
ed by Mrs. B. L. Yantis. ’ Mrs. Ed
Yantis prsided over the punch bowl.
For travel Mrs. McLaughlin wore
a green silk gabardine suit with
pink blouse and black accessories.

included the bride’s parents, Mr. and

ing, February 6, at the Church of
God. The Rev. Jack Gilbert, pastor
read the ceremony for which an at-
tractive setting of flowers and green-
ery had been arranged. Mrs. G. M.
Bloomingdale of Weatherford play-
ed the wedding march and recession-
al. Mrs. E.’C. Darter was soloist
and she sang “I Love You Truly”.
The bride was given in marriage by
her brother, Pfc. Johnnie Ray
Dougherty of1 Sheppard Field. Mrs.

ward Yantis and Byron Cavinier of
that city were ushers.
The bride wore a three-piece
swagger suit of light gray, a powder
blue hat with chin length veil and
other accessories in navy and black.
Her costume was set • off with an
orchid worn high • on the right
shoulder and with a white cameo
locket in sterlirig silver setting on
a sterling chain, brought from .It-
aly by the groom. Mrs. Thompson
wore a two-tone suit of navy and
black and a corsage of pink carna-
tions. The bride’s mother, Mrs. Tom
B. Inglish of Cotulla, wore a green
suit with brown accessories and
white carnations. The groom’s
mother, Mrs. L. G. McLaughlin of
Electra wore a powder blue suit with
black accessories and pink carna-
tions.
The groom graduated with both
scholastic and atheltic honors from
Electra high school and attended
Rice University at Houston prior to
entering the Army Air Force with
which he earned the Air Medal with
Oak Leaf Clusters and other hon-
ors as a first lieutenant pilot in It-
aly. He received an honorable dis-
charge in September* 1945. The
bride graduated from Cotulla high
school and Texas State College for
Women at Denton. She has been
employed as assistant dietician at
the Santa Rosa Hospital in San An-
tonio. The newlyweds will estab_
lish their home in Electra after a

members of the Electra Music Club
on February 4. 'Mrs. Edith G. Falls
presided and Mrs. J. T. 'Stephens
was accepted as a new member of
the club. Names of three other can-
didates for membership were pre-
sented. Mrs. E. V. Haltom, program
chairman for the evening, presented
the program on the theme of “Light
Opera”.
The program was'as follows: “Cur-
rent Events”, Mrs. W. O. Bucy;
double duet, “Ah, Sweet Mystery of
Life” ((Herbert), and “Cradle Song”
(Brahms), sung by Mmes. L. P.
Francis, Dewey Dovel, J. F. Warren
and Roy Gibson, Mrs. R. G. Donnal-
ly, accompanist; violin solos, “Gypsy
Love Song” (Herbert) and “Sym-

Pfc. Givens recently completed a
course of training at Rockford, Ill.,
and after his furlough he expects a
new assignment of duty.

Dovel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey
Dovel, Friday evening at the home
of the bride’s parents. The Rev.
.Jesse A. .Iwig, pastor of the First
^Presbyterian church, read the single
ring ceremony in the presence of
relatives and close friends.
The bride who is a student in Elec-
tra high school wore a blue suit with
harmonizing accessories. Her cor-
sage was of white gladiola. Miss
Voncille Dovel, sister of the groom,
was maid of honor. She wore a
dusty rose -costume highlighted with
a corsage of white carnations. Elmer
Kelly, a seaman in the Merchant
Marines, whose .station of duty is
Brooklyn, was best man.
Pfc. Dovel is a member of'a med-
ical detachment of the US Army and
has been stationed at Camp Shanks,
New York. At the end of a 30 day
furlough he will report for assign-
ment of overseas duty at Camp
Jackson, _ South Carolina. His bride
will remain with her parents. He
graduated from Electra high school
.and attended Texas A&M College
prior to .entering military service.
