Funeral
Services
■ Funeral Services for Mrs. Roy L
(Frances Ann) Dungan, of the
Brushy Community were held Sat-
urday morning, October 15, 1908,
from St. Mary’s Catholic Church In
Ellinger with Msgr. Bon Masurtie-
wicz officiating.
Interment was in St. Anthony's
Catholic Cometary in Columbus.
Mrs. Dungen passed away Thurs-
day morning, October U, in Me-
morial Medical Center in Port
Lavaca. She was 80 years of age.
Born February 8, 1908 at Colum-
bus, she was the daughter of Frank
and Mary (Malcik) Becica. She
attended Glidden High School and
Southwest Texas State Teachers
College in San Marcos and was a
teacher for 29 years, serving schools
in Oak Hill, Rabbs Prairie and
Brushy. She had been retired for SO
years.
On September 2, 1937 she was
united in marriage with Roy L
Dungen at St. Michael’s Catholic
Church in Weimar. He preceded her
in death on February 3,1979.
» Mrs. Dungen was a lifelong resi-
dent of the Columbus area, a
member of St Mary’s Catholic
Church in Ellinger and the Altar
Society.
Survivors include a daughter and
son-in-law, Mary Frances and Don
Montier of Port Lavaca; son and
daughter-in-law, Ray and Maridel
Dungen of New Ulm; one sister,
and brother-in-law, Bernice and
Vincent Krupka of Columbus; three
grandchildren, Mike Dungen and his
wife, Mona, Jeff Dungen, and Brett
Montier.
Pallbearers were Ben D. Marek,
Robert West Otto Loessin, Lawren-
ce Dungen, William Tietochert and
John Morris Naumann.
Henneke Funeral Home of Colum-
bus was in charge of funeral
arrangements.

Graveside Services for Miss Asta
Haubold, 97, of Waco, were held at 10
a.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery
with Rev. Peter Nichols officiating.
Miss Haubold, 97, passed away
Thursday afternoon in a Waco
nursing home.
■ Bom September 1, 1891 in New
Ulm, she was a longtime member of
Zion United Church of Christ, and
was known as the “materials lady”
at W.T. Grant Co. in Waco.
Survivors include two nephews,
Jack C. Sparks of Waco and C. C.
Sparks Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska.
Columbus
Garden
Club
Meeting
The Columbus Garden Club bold
their regular mooting Wednesday,
October 12, at the home of Lavine
Farek. Mrs. Peters, club president,
opened the meeting by asking
members to answer the roll call with
the name of an annual. Two new
members are Shirley Kirsop and
Mary Nell Cook. Mrs. Peters an-
nounced the yard of the month
award was presented to Mr. and
Mrs. Archie Neal Terrell of 232
McCormick for October. The club
also voted to allow all garden club
members to be eligible for the yard
of the month award. The selection
again will be made the last week of
the month.
The garden club has accepted the
project of keeping the 'Lone Star
Marker landscaped on the court
house square.
The dub will also decorate the
Brandon House for the annual
Christmas Open House on December
1st This is a continuing project for
the club and all members are
requested to help decorate on No-
vember 30th.
Mrs.Mary Lou Sarkozy reminded
the members of the District IV
Convention to be held in Weimar on
November 9 and November 10th. AU
members who are interested in
attending are asked to send their
registration fee to the club secre-
tary, Melba Hattermann. Mrs. Quin-
ton Steitz will be giving one of the
programs. The dub voted to pay for
the registration for the president,
Mrs. Peters.
The next meeting will be Novem-
ber 9 at the Lutheran Church
fellowship hall. The program will be
faU and Christmas arrangements by
James Kana, Alamo Plants and
Petals from San Antonio. The public
is invited and a fee of 82.00 will be
accepted. Coffee and cookies will be
served. The meeting begins at 9:30
a.m. and the program will be at
10:00 a.m.
After the business meeting, Char-
lea Klein, honorary dub member,
presented a color slide program

Circle
Meets
' Members of the Dora Circle met In
the educational bidding of the
Industry United Methodist'Church
on Thursday evening, October 6, at
7:30 p.m.
The program entitled “Hope - A
Shining Ray” was presented by
Arby Luedecke assisted by other
members. The purpose of the pro-
gram topic was to affirm that United
Methodist Women are women of
hope for themselves, for others and
for the entire nation. Hymns sung
and accompanied by Betty McGoo-
agill were “O Master Let Me Walk
With Thee,” "Blessed Assurance,”
and “My Hope Is Built.”
Sharon Spiess, president, was in
charge of the business meeting.
Fifteen members answered roU call
with a Bible verse. The circle will
again seU poinsettias for Christmas.
Some 234 sick calls were reported.
The meeting was dosed with a
prayer. Sharon served refreshme-
nts.
entitled “Looking Back - Garden
Club Roots.” The slides included
outstanding trees, shrubs and other
plants raised by garden club mem-
bers and other Columbus residents.
The program also included various
pictures of previous flower shows
held in Columbus.
The hostesses for the day included
Alice Johnson, Clara Klein and Mrs.
Farek.
Refreshments of coffee, juice and
rolls were served.
