Installing Officer.
Before the business meeting, hik-
ing and fellowship were enjoyed and
a roast beef dinner served by Ricky
Mantey’s Catering. Betty Wehring,
District Representative, coordinat-
ed the awarding of prizes of which
two were $50 Savings Bonds won by
Alvin Schulz and Christine Koke-
mor.
During the business meeting, Sue
Krueger recapped the activities of
Bluebonnet Branch Mil for 1988.
Some $6,600.00 came into the Austin,
Waller and Washington County area
from Lutheran Brotherhood Frater-
nal Benefit Society. These monies
were spent as follows:
Disaster Relief Fund - to match
the $3,800 raised for Jeff Toll for
medical expenses and Susan Hoile
for special equipment needs. These
funds were matched on a two-dollar-
for-one-dollar basis by Lutheran
Brotherhood up to $2,000.
Brandi Challenge Fund • to match
the $2,000 raised to benefit the Nancy
Carol Roberts Memorial Library.
These funds were matched on a
dollar-for-dollar basis by Lutheran
Brotherhood up to $2,000. The $2,000
was seed dollars in which almost
$28,000 was raised. The Branch was
also instrumental in starting this
fund raising project for the library.
Friends In Deed Projects - All six
projects were completed. Lutheran
Brotherhood reimbursed for up to
$300 per project and Bluebonnet
Brandi members helped supply the
people power. These projects includ-
ed painting and ceiling tile at Faith
Mission and Help Center; installing
water line pipe at Happy Hollow;
purchased food for the Industry
Little League Benefit; two projects
used to purchase material to make
quilts for Lutheran World Relief by
the church ladies of St. John’s in
Bellville, Salem of Welcome, and
Zion of Zionsville; and the National
Friends in Deed project when bran-
ch members made “Goodie Bags”
for Senior Citizens in Austin County.
Care and Share Projects - Both
projects were completed. Lutheran
Brotherhood reimbursed for up to
$400 spent on materials and supplies
for each project. These projects
included purchasing food for Waller
Food Pantry and medical expenses
for the Brau family.
Carrell Meier, District Represen-
tative, recognized the 1988 Officers
and presented them with a gift of
appreciation. Linda Young, District
Representative and member of the
nominating committee, introduced
1909 Officer Nominees.
