Read How You, Too, May
Win an Award as High
as $1,000.00 Cash
Proving again that “better pelt handling
pays,” thia local trapper got an extra $5.00
in caah—one of the Daily Awards in Sean
17th National Fur Show—and, besides,
a chance to share in the big major awards I
What this trapper did, you too can do
—whether or not you sell your fun through
Sean Raw Fur Marketing Service. For
Sean Fur Show offers, thia season, a
total of 942 cash awards, including
the First Award of 11,000.00 for the best
handled pelt of all.
942 Awards—$7,590 Cash
Yes, a total of 942 eaah awards for fur
shippers—942 opportunities to share in
$7,590.00 in cash.
MAJOR CASH AWARDS: There are
ten major cash awards, ranging from
$50.00 to $1,000.00.
SECTIONAL CASH AWARDS: There
are sectional awards, too—for complete
shipments of five or more pelts—one
' award of $250.00: eleven of $50.00 each.
DAILY CASH AWARDS: Finally, there
are 918 daily caah awards of $5.00 eaeh,
for pelts received during the Fur Show.
Gst In—It’s Easy
Pays You 3 Ways
Fint, every award is in addition to the
cash Sears get you for your pelts.
Second, Sean can be depended on to
obtain for you top prices.
Third, even if you don’t win an award,
careful handling enhances the value of
your furs.
This third feature is the real reason for
Sears 17th National Raw Fur Show with
942 Cash awards, totaling $7,590.00.
By encouraging careful pelt handling,
Sears believethe annual value of America's
raw furs can l»e increased by millions of
dollars. And that the income of every
trapper can be given a big boost.
Every fur you ship to Seant during
the term of the Fur Show, is auto-
matically considered for awards.
Moreover, only the handling of the
pelts counts; not the kind of fur, not
its value.
So this season, why not try for some
big extra money f Remember, every-
body has an equal chance. You have
everything to gain—nothing to lose.
When youi furs are ready, ship
them to Sean, Roebuck and Co., Raw
Fur Marketing Service at the nearest
of these points: C hicago, Philadelphia,
.Memphis, Dallas, Kansas City or
Seattle. Thousands of trappers nave
earned awards. YOU CAN, too!

This Peacetime Christmas is indeed a
season of Joy and Merriment for most of us.
Santa's bag is still short of electric gifts
such as new radios, refrigerators, toasters,
coffee makers and ranges. But they’re
coming back soon, and next year will prob-
ably find his pack well-stocked with these
gifts that serve throughout the years.
Low cost electricity makes it possible for
every family to enjoy all of the many- useful
electric appliances. Plan now to equip your
home with these labor-saving helpers by
next Christmas.

down to 26 degrees.
Rainfall in this section is not
too much, although we had
quite a few rainy days, but the
moisture did not amount to
much. Farmers are well advanc-
ed with plowing and some have
finished.
The Christmas Spirit seems
to be high against other years,
towns are decorated with color-
ed lights on the streets and
windows and shoppers are plen-
tiful, but much disappointed
by not finding what they wish
to buy and are trying their luck
in other towns without better
results.
County Commissioner Ermis
has recently changed the road
from the highway to the Ever-

road with sandrock. Also the
road from the highway to
Henkhaus has been sandrocked
and the feed and grocery trucks
will no longer have an excuse
to skip this town on account
of impassable roads.

1946 should witness
groups moving more or
together. Switching has
over-done in many cases.
36. Stock markets will
tinue to witness creeping
eral inflation, although
stock market as a whole
appear to have reached its
peak before December 31, 1946.
Bonds
37. Although bank loaning
rates should have an upward
tendency, interest rates in gen-
eral will remain low through
1946. The money supply is now
25% above normal and govern-
ment financing demands con-
tinued low rates.
38. Anticipating the expect-
ed decline in Federal taxes,
1946 should see a falling off
in the price of most municipal
and probably other tax-exempt
bonds.
39. The high-grade corpora-
tion bonds may hold steady but
sooner or later decline consid-
erably. Whether this will start
in 1946 I do not know. Invest-
ors will give more attention to
diversification and staggering
maturities during 1946.
40. More public utilities will
be taken over by Municipalities
and “Authorities” during 1946.
Wise investors will consider
this possibility when selecting
public utility bonds. Some
stocks such as “Eastern Utili-
ties Associates Convertible
Shares,” in which I am per-
sonally interested, should be
helped by public ownership.
Real Estate
41. Suburban real estate will
be in much greater demand
with higher prices during 1946.
42. City real estate should
hold its own, excepting in the
former congested war produc-
tion areas where declines may
set in.
43. Small productive farms
will continue to increase in
price; but large commercial
farms may sell for less in 1946
than in 1945.
44. Building will show a con-
siderable increase. Contracts
will be up with advancing
prices due to scarcity of lum-
ber, cement, bricks and labor.
45. Office and residential
rents during 1946 may be ex-
pected to increase.
46. 1946 may see the begin-
ning of a real building boom.
The pessimists will make little
money in 1946.
Politics and Postwar Peace
47. President Truman may
lose control of Congress, but
he will try to take a middle-
of-the-road position. I believe
that all wise Republicans and
Democrats should support his
efforts.
48. Our foreign headaches
will become worse and more
frequent during 1946. What we
are going through to reorgan-
ize Germany will be repeated
in other countries.
49. The Latin American
honeymoon has passed its peak.

Edmund Andreas, well known
trapper from New Ulm, is a
winner of a Daily Award for
correct pelt handling in the
Seventeenth National Fur Show
conducted by the Raw Fur
Marketing Service of Sears,
Roebuck and Company.
Andreas’ carefully handled
Grey Fox pelt brought him one
of the $5.00 Daily Awards, as
a result of its being judged one
of the three best handled skins
among all pelts received at
Sears Raw Fur Marketing Sta-
tion in Dallas on Friday, De-
cember 14th, and in addition
entitles Andreas to considera-
tion for one of the major a-
wards, including $1,000.00 First
Award, to be selected at the
final judging, which will be
held in April.
Correct pelt handling—the
prime purpose of the Fur Shows
—has proved to be of vital im-
portance to trappers due to the <
fact that millions of dollars;
were formerly wasted through
careless, incorrect skinning,
stretching and drying of furs
—dollars which
have gone into
pockets instead
to the winds -----
pelts command more
than poorly handled ones—thus
increasing not alone the earn-
ings of the trapper, but the
value of our country’s natural
resources. Sears Fur Show was
established to stress the point
and, thus, to encourage correct
pelt handling.
This season’s 17th National
awards again total $7,590.00 in
cash, including 918 daily $5.00
awards, ten major awards a-
mounting to $1,950.00—topped
by an eagerly sought-after
$1,000.00 First Award—plus
twelve sectional awards for
complete fur shipments—ag-
gregating $800.00. All awards
for pelt-handling only, not kind
or value of skin. Every pelt
shipped to Sears, during the
term of the Fur Show, is auto-
matically considered for one
or more awards. Full details
