Jeff Dungen singled, moved up on
Montier's single and scored on a
sacrifice fly by Kevin Kelley.
The Firemen put it away with a
pair in the Oth. Dungen doubled and
Montier singled and both rode home
on Gary Herrmann’s single.
Taft scored once in the 9th off
Firemen relief hurler Trey Marik
who was the winning pitcher. Mont-
ier had pitched the first 6 innings to
keep New Ulm in the game.
The Firemen then played old
rivals Flatonia in the nightcap.
Flatonia went up 2-0 in the second
whenNew Ulm starter Chad Schoen-
vogel's arm started bothering him.
After a pair of walks, he was
relieved by Steve Vlasek with none
out Vlasek gave up a single after
striking out the first batter and then
slammed the door on the Southern
Stars for the rest of the night.
Vlasek did a masterful job, scat-
tering 6 hits and whiffing 9 in 8 full
innings.
In the meantime, his teammates
were busy getting on the board and
then moving ahead. Jeff Dungen
doubled in the fourth, moved up on a
passed ball and scored on a wild
pitch to get one back. New Ulm got
two key runs in the 5th when Gary
Herrmann opened with a single.
Mike Dungen followed with a single
and Shawn Byrne drove in two with
a deep double to right.
New Ulm scored its fourth and
final run in the 6th when Jeff Dungen
and Brett Montier singled back-to-
back with Dungen scoring on Kevin
Kelley’s groundout.
The Firemen met the Shiner
Clippers Sunday afternoon in the
prelude to the Championship Game.
Shiner worked to an early 5-0 lead
through 5 against New Ulm starter
James Benefield. Gary Herrmann
pitched 3 innings in relief and Jeff
Dungen finished up.
The Clippers had worked up to a
7-0 lead before the Firemen erupted
for 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th to
dose the gap.
Kevin Kelley and Raul Garcia-
Rameau singled back-to-back. With
one out Eddie Garcia-Rameau bo-
omed a 3-run homer deep to right.
After another out, Shawn Byrne
doubled, stole second and scored on
an errant throw.
Shiner got another run in the 8th
but the Firemen kept pace with one
of their own. Kevin Kelley and Mike
Dungen singled, Kelley scoring on
Eddie Garcia-Rameau’s single.
New Ulm threatened in the 9th.
Shawn Byrne and Brett Montier both
Funeral Services for Joe J. Mou-
dry of Nelsonville were held Satur-
day, July 15,1989 at 11:30 a.m. from
the Immaculate Conception Church
in Industry with Msgr. Werner
Bockholt officiating.
Burial was in the Immaculate
Conception Church Cemetery.
Mr. Moudry passed away in
Cypress-Fairbanks Medical Center
Thursday morning, July 13,1969. He
was 70 years of age.
Bom in Oak Hill on November 29,
1918, he was the son of John Edward
and Agnes Mary Kubacek Moudry.
He attended Oak Hill Public School
and served in the U.S. Army In
World War II in the medical corp. He
was a member of the American
Legion » 150 of Bellville and was a
mechanic and farmer.
He was married to the former
Kathleen Harris July 11, 1945 in
England, U.K.
Survivors include his wife, Kath-
leen Moudry of Nelsonville; three
daughters, Carol Ann Hegemeyer
and her husband, Eddie, Jr. of New
Ulm, Mary Jane Belota and her
husband. Clement, Jr. of New Ulm
and Judy May Moudry of Houston;
one son, Joseph Rodney Moudry of
Houston; one brother, Willie F.
Moudry of Nelsonville; and six
grandchildren, Suzanne Gail Belota,
Stephen Wayne Belota, Clement
Joseph Belota III, Brian Scott
Hegemeyer, Clinton Edward Hege-
meyer and Nathan John Hegemey-
er, all of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, one son, Ladle S. Moudry
and one brother, Ladgie Moudry and
one grandson, Christopher Paul
Hegemeyer.
Pallbearers were Stephen Belota,
Bryan Hegemeyer, Michael Mou-
dry, Jimmy Moudry, Matthew Mou-
dry, Clinton Hegemeyer, Nathan
Hegemeyer and Clement Belota in.
Services were under the direction
of the Etlinger Funeral Home of
Bellville.

Funeral Services for Robert Piaz-
za, Jr. ot Bellville were held
Saturday, July 15,1989 at 10:30 a.m.
from the Zaskoda Chapel in Industry
with Rev. Werner Bockholt officiat-
ing.
Burial was in the Immaculate
Conception Cemetery in Industry.
Mr. Piazza passed away Wednes-
day, July 12, 1989 in a Houston
hospital, he was 56 years of age.
He was bom September 15,1932 in
Houston, the son of Robert and
Agnes Elizabeth Graham Piazza. He
was a chemical lab technician and
member of the Knights of Columbus,
the American Legion Post # 115 of
Bellville and the Farm Bureau.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia
Barnum Piazza; daughter, Susan
McGee of West University Place;
son, Steven Piazza of LaFayette,
LA; one grandson, Sean Austin
McGee; also his ex-wife, Lurena Sue
Zavertnik of Houston.
Active pallbearers were Brent
Sabo, Bill Weaver, Melvin Stokley,
Bob Spann, Tom Rabb, Melvin
Pouncy. Honorary pallbearers were
Cuba Burleson, Ralph Hamilton, Joe
Sklar, Lee Stokley, Andrew Wason,
Chris Stevens and Jim Patton.

Industry were in charge of funeral
arrangements.
Field Demo
Area folks are reminded of the
field demonstration sponsored by
Blezinger's Inc. of Industry and
Pioneer Hi-Bred International Fri-
day afternoon, July 21, beginning at
6 p.m.
The demonstration will feature
Pioneer Brand 1177 inoculant, which
aids in making hay sooner, reducing
weather risks and leaf shatter.
The demonstration will be at the
Marcus Galle Farm on Blezinger
Road, Industry.
