the people how many years
young you are?
Mr. andMrs. W. E. Maerx,
Mr. and Mrs. Ronny O’Brien,
and Willie Mayfield spent
the Fourth of July weekend
with Emil Maerx. Willie re-
turned home after spending a
week here with his great -
grandfather.
How many of you can re-
member the time when the
people who lived near the
Cummins Creek used the
pretty white sand from the
creekbanks to spread over
their kitchen floors? Mary
Luetge tells us that all the
ladies who lived near her
family many years ago when
she was a girl at home, put
the sand on the kitchen floor,
let it stay for a few days,
swept it up, and replaced it
with clean sand. This made
it easier to keep clean than
scrubbing the floor, since
the sand absorbed all the
spins from the kitchen and
around their dining table.
Since the white sand is so
clean, someone came upon
this idea.
Mr. and Mrs. Claud Nel-
son spent the weekend in
their new home here in our
community. Mary Luetge had
the opportunity to spend a few
minutes with these folks who
are good friends to Mamie
and Jimmie Swonke, her dau-
ghter and son-in-law.
