On every page of the New Tes-
tament we hear proclaimed, “My
eyes have seen.” And “The Grace
of God has appreared.”
In the presence of God we see
ourselves as we are and our world
as it is and the people around
us as they are. The light of faith
is not to look at but to see by.
Why do you stand looking into
heaven? the ascending Lord ask-
ed the disciples. If we are to see
his salvation we will see it here
in our work and our homes and
our world.
John Dewey once said, “No-
body teaches unless somebody
learns.” God does not show him-
self unless somebody sees. And
where ever we have eyes to see,
God shows himself. Wherever
you are right now as you read
this God is waiting to show him-
self and bestow his salvation
which he “has prepared in the
presence of all peoples, a light
for revelation to the Gentiles and
for the glory to thy people Israel.”
He who has eyes to see let him
see.

crown, what has this to do with
our life as professed followers
of him who bore our sins on the
tree? In fairness to Jesus, we
must admit the fact that we can-
not be his followers expecting
someday to live with him in his
heavenly home, if we refuse to
bear our own cross. Jesus said:
“And he that doth doth not take
his cross and follow after me, is
not worthy of me” Matt. 10:38).
Paul, in his Philippian letter has
this to say: “Because to you it

Paul said “Suffer hardships with Meets
me, as a good soldier of Christ
Jesus.” not only these, but we
have many more passages in the
Scriptures that tell us to bear
our cross, for without it we can- 1
not be partakers of that heavenly Lord-
inheritance (Col. 11:12.)

Christianity is a wonderful re-
ligion. It was founded by the
greatest founder the world ever
had. It is the only relgion sanc-
tioned by God. But foremost is
the fact that the promise attach-
ed to it is a million times greater
than that of the earth’s most
enticing rewards to those who
would become worldly. Yes, no
other religion on the face of the
earth could ever surpass the beau-
ty and wisdom of this God-given-
faith. But what is the price of
Christianity? Was it obtained
without cost? Or did it; involve a
life that is most precious, un-;
blemished, and sublime?
Jesus the son of God, is the
center-figure in Christianity. His
vicarious death upon the cross
was believed by the Jews to be
the end of the cause for which he |
died. They rejoiced exceedingly willing to suffer
in his agony.
