We should not look on prayer

a unique blessing to Christians.
We cannot be demanding a God

we need. To teach humility Jesus
used the publican one of the men

fitting lowliness David intoned,

For the flrat time science has found
a new healing substance with the as-

surgery. In case after use, while
gently relieving pain, actual reduc-

amasing of all — results were so thor-

This was an interesting pe-

General MacArthur’s battle
plans were given to the Chi-
nese. Thus, this treachery was
quite in keeping with the rest of
the era of disgraceful conduct
in Britain as it all goes togeth-
er in one ball of wax.

Of course, when the British
people revolted against such
scandal and put back into power
a responsible government, the
U.S. State Department did its
best to destroy the government,
being even more bitter than it
has been since Gen. DeGaulle
ousted French Socialists.

When Egypt’s Nasser stole
the Suez Canal, Prime Minis-
ter Anthony Eden, a protege of
Churchill, took quick action and
would have had the Nasser sit-
uation settled for all time to
come within another 48 hours
but was compelled to cease by
the U S. who told him unless he
stopped his drive to unseat
Nasser, there would be armed
American intervention. This
toppled Eden’s cabinet, but
failed in the major objective of
throwing out of office the Con-
servative party.

It is now to be expected that
the American psuedo-liberals,
like hyenas snapping at a dead
lion, will do their utmost to
nibble away at the towering
MacArthur image.
♦ ♦ ♦
In fact, as soon as they feel
safe, they will pop above
ground again to launch attacks
on the MacArthur image. But
no one shoud be particularly
surprised that they do this, or
with the wild, screaming
claims they make, or over the
lengths to which they will go
seeking to destroy the Mac-
Arthur image. After all, the
U.S. Supreme Court has made
some mighty attempts to des-
troy the validity of God.

A Prayer Of David Vernon Shive, Jr
Gels Promotion
The prayers of the Bible are
not recorded for nought. It is pro-
fitable and inspirational to read
petitions to God poured out of
sincere hearts. It is of interest
to read of the personal accounts
of great men. David, a good man
on international acclaim, uttered
a beautiful prayer after Nathan
the prophet made the promise
of the establishment of his house,
and throne. (II Sam. 7: 12-16.)
After these glories words fell on
his ears, he could not refrain
from giving an exjpression of
thanks to Jehovah. David ap-
pears to be tender and emotional
and his writings feed our spirits
and encourage us to commune
with God. Let us study one of his
prayers (II Sam. 7:18-29). For it
will help us to pray more suc-
cessfully and, too, it will cause
us to realize the beauty of talk-
ing to our Father.
A prayer of fervency this pray-
er was not offered merely as a
matter of habit but because of
a genuine desire to magnify the
Lord foi' his goodness. Read it
aloud and you will be able to
understand and in a measure re-
construct the deep feeling and
zeal of David. In a dozen verses
he addresses God as “O Lord
God” or by a similar term. This
repetition is not a “filler” as is
possibly the case in some public
prayers we hear today but it is
an indication of his fervency. It
is alleged that the posture of sit-
ting in prayer shows disrespect
to God and makes it impossible
for a petitioner to pray fervent-
ly. This cannot be true for David
“sat” as he found it “in his heart
to pray this prayer.” (IT Sam. 7:
18, 27.)

a house: therefore hath thy ser-
vant found in his heart to pray.”
(II Sam. 7:27.) He ascribes great-
ness to God, the one and only,
“for there is none like thee.” As
he reflects on Israel’s past he
recalls how this nation was chos-
en and foi? which he graciously
provided. His words were, “And
