lowing the receipt of petitions

statutes and conferring with the

The parents of the Junior High
football players in Leonard school
entertained with a banquet hon-
oring the boys and their dates,
the coaches and their wives and
invited guests , Saturday night,
November 21st, in the school cafe-
torium.
The tables were laid in white
and centered with gold and blue,
the school colors. A miniature
football player was on the head
table where Coach Jack Ewing
and Mrs. Ewing and Coach Jer-
ry Morris sat. Invited guests high
school football Coach Perry Mor-
ris and Mrs. Morris were also
seated at this table.
The delicious food was served

Mrs. McDonald’s body was
found Sunday nearly five months
after her disappearance on July
7, 1964 from the home of her
son, Mr. and Mrs. O. W. McDon-
ald in Oak Harbor, Washington
where she was living. A search
for Mrs. McDonald had been in
vain then on Sunday deer hunt-
ers found her body in a wooded
section about one andone-half
miles from the home of her son.
There was no foul play according
to reports. The body is scheduled
to arrive in Leonard at 7:30 Sat-
urday night by train and will be
carried to Wilson Funeral Home.

Jones, Bernice Steele, Johnny
Hodges, Elzie McDonald, Charles
McDonald and Randell McDon-
ald.
Mrs. McDonald was born Oc-
tober 19, 1879 in Missouri, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Tobe Lacy.
She married T. R. McDonald in
1897 and they made their home
in Leonard where they reared
their children. She was a member
of the Baptist Church.
Survivors are four sons, Horace
McDonald of Grand Prairie, Bill
McDonald of Spokane, Wash., Al-
bert McDonald of Grand Prairie,
and O. W. McDonald of Oak
Harbor, Wash.; one daughter,
Mrs. Jimmie Ackerman of Ala-
meda, Calif.
Also one brother, Abe Lacy of
Winters, Texas, and two sisters,
Mrs. Margaret Allen of Ballinger
and Mrs. Venia Mayfield of San
Angelo. Six grandchildren and

Mrs. Nance died in a Bonham
nursing home Tuesday night,
November 24, 1964. She had lived
in Leonard until several months
ago. when she moved to Bonham.
She was born January 3, 1876 in
Athens, Ala., daughter of the late|
George Preston Henderson and
Margaret Frances McCormick
Henderson. She married Branson
Nance and he preceded her in
death in 1945.
Surviving are one daughter,
Mrs. W. E. Crelia of Bonham, 4
grandchildren, 8 great grandchil-
dren and 4 nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jack Bar-
bee, Hubert Jacobs, A. L. Brown,
II, Ernest Tarpley, Homer Evans
and Sam Ferguson.

Hundreds Welcomed To Formal Opening
Of Gilbert Nursing Home Here Sunday
The doors of Gilbert Nursing
I Home were opened to hundreds
of visitors Sunday, November 22,
when, open house was held be-
tween 2 and 4 o’clock in the af-
ternoon.
Billy Gilbert, owner of the 38-
bed home for the elderly was
assisted by his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. John Gilbert, in welcoming
callers.
The home is of brick construc-
tion and is licensed by the State
Department of Health and Wel-
fare.
Seven women had moved into
<’ the home on opening day and
more have moved since.
Employees of the home and
their duties are Mrs. Wilma Lat-
imer, supervisor-LVN nurse; Mrs.
Dorothy McBroom, LVN nurse;
nurse.

interested in a Scouting Program i
for Leonard are asked to meet
at the Leonard Methodist Church i
Tuesday night, Dec. 1, at 7:00!

Bill Hardin, who is the Scout
