It is nothing new for the
church to have people mad at it.
In fact, the more seriously that
■ the church takes people, the,
more they seem to resent it. Just
let a church hold its members ac-
countable for missing services and
they get angry. They get almost
as angry as they do when
church does not seem to
whether they attend or not.
The more intensely the church
holds people responsible for at-
titudes of love and compassion the
more they want it silenced. Just
let a church condemn its meb-
bers for gossip or supporting the
slaughter of humans in industry
or in whr and they want the
church to back off.
The more effectively the church
witnesses before men for the
stewardship of their possessions,

After aH, (there are millions
of people in Russia and China
who share your views. Certain
states in India recently passed
laws that no one could join a
Christian Church unless they
were approved by some govern-
ment official. Many communist
Jsatelites have laws that no one
under eighteen 'can be baptized.
Certain branches of the Christian
family are outlawed in Spain,
South American countries and
even in John Hershey’s version of
American Christian Orthodoxy.
It is just a matter of whose
side you want to be on.
