Midway H-D Club
The Midway Home Demon-
stration Club met Thursday af-
ternoon in the home of Mrs.
Edwin Blakemore, Route ’ 2,
Celeste. Mrs. Worth Wilkerson
led the group in singing. Mrs.
George McGee brought the de-
votional on “Faith is the Vic-
tory”, based on Hebrew 11:1.
The Lord’s Prayer was repeated
in unison.
Nine members answered roll
call with a food fact. It was
found that George Washington
was not only the father of our
country, but was the first to
serve ice cream.
During the business session,
plans were completed for par-
ticipating in the county tour.
Plans were also made for com-
munity night, May 22. All
families are invited to attend
these play nights. We should all
learn to play together.
The next meeting will be
May 13 in the home of Mrs. Bob
Manley in Celeste.
Mrs. Annie Mae Hatchett gave
a demonstration on preparing
flank steak. She said that
“with a Texas food standard as
a guide any homemaker can
serve a balanced died economi-
cally. Not only must she pre-
pare and serve a balanced diet
but her family should all par-
take of it. The body needs pro-
tein foods three times a day.
These protein foods can be
'found in both animal and veg-
etables.”
On the refreshment plate
served by Mrs. Blakemore was
a taste portion of the steak
cooked during Mrs. Hatchett’s
talk. Mmes. S. W. Myers, J. H.
Isham, Harold Franka, Worth
Wilkerson, L. H. Compton,
George McGee, H. H. Furr,
Glenn Compton and Mrs.
Hatchett, all agree that this low
price cut of meat is very tasty.

II THE CHURCH FOR ALL . .
ALL FOR THE CHURCH
Bl The Church is the greatest fac-
|| tor on earth for the building of
|| character and good citizenship. It
i| is a storehouse of spiritual values.
|| Without a strong Church, neither
|| democracy nor civilization can
|| survive. There are four sound
|| reasons why every person should
Il attend services regularly and sup-
|| port the Church. They are: (1)
ij For his own sake. (2) For his
|| children's sake. (3) For the sake
|| of his community and nation. (4)
y For the sake of the Church itself,
i| which needs his moral and ma-
il terial support. Plan to go to

AKE THE MUDS BREAKING 7
No one doubts that we' are living in troubled times. Few generations
have faced such a constant threat of war; none has known such appalling
weapons of destruction. A storm of terror threatens to engulf the world.
Yet, there are some who see signs that the clouds may be breaking.
They point to crowded churches . . . Sunday Schools with record en-
rollment . . . tremendous demand for the n§w translation of the Bible.
They reason that such concern for the spiritual realities of life is certain
to have effect on the course of our history.
Whether we share their optimism or not, there is no denying the prem-
ise on which it is based. Though we cannot read the future, we can read
the past. Man’s hope of peace and happiness, in national and in personal
life, has always rested upon spiritual foundations.
People who wgnt the peace of God must turp to Godjo find it!
