was stationed for more than a year.

Electra became the bride of Pfc.
Donald D. Givens, son of Mr, and
Mrs. Dale Givens, of Electra, in
marriage rites performed Feb. 6 at
8:00 o’clock, at the Church of God,
with Jack Gilbert, pastor of the
Church of God, officiating.
Given in marriage by her broth-
er, Pfc. Johnnie R. Dougherty of
Sheppard Field, the bride was lov-
ely in an aqua blue gaberdine suit
with accessories of black. She com-
pleted the costume by carrying a
bouquet of , white gladiolus and
white carnations with showers and
streamers of white ribbon on a
white bible belonging to the ma-
tron of honor.
Mrs. Johnnie R. Dougherty of
Wichita Falls,’ sister in law of the
bride was matron of honor. She
wore an aqua blue gaberdine suit
with black accessories and a shoul-
der corsage of white carnations.
The candles were lighted by Miss
Tava Lee Givens, sister of the
groom and Mrs. Henry E. McClure,
sister of the bride. Flounoy Givens,
brother, of the groom was best
man. Richard Clark and'Bobby Bo-
hannan were ushers. Nuptial music
was furnished by Mrs. G. M.
Bloomingdale of Weatherford. Mrs.
E. C. Darter sang “I Love You
Truly,” and little Miss Phea Faye
McClure gave a reading.
The arch, was covered with
white swinging gates in the cen-
ter of the platform, with while pal-
ing fence on either side to match.
The platform was covered with a
green throw. Candle holders con-
taining five large white candles
stood on each side of the platform.
A large bouquet of white and pink
gladiolus sat at the back of the
bridal party.
The bride is a graduate of the
Electra High school and has been
employed at Loden’s Studio the
past five months.
The groom is a graduate of Elec-
tra High school and has been in
the army since June 24, 1945._ He

III., for the past four months. He
enlisted for another year and is
here on a 30 day furlough. He will
report to San Antonio Feb. 23.
The bride plans to join him as
soon as possible.
A reception was held at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Givens,
parents of the groom.' Mrs. E. C.
Darter presided at the punch bowl.
The bride and groom cut and serv-
ed the two tier white wedding cake
topped with a miniature bride and
groom.
The table was covered with a
white linen table cloth centered
with a large bouqqet of pink and
white carnations and clear candle
holders containing two candles on
each side of a mirror. A lovely

white roses, formed the center-

After a wedding trip to points of
interest in South Texas, the young
couple will reside in Electra. For
travel, the bride wore a green silk
gaberdine suit wth a pnk blouse
and black accessories. She is a
graduate of the Cotulla High school
and Texas State College for Wo-
men. She has been serving as as-
sistant dietician at Santa Rosa
' Hospital, San Antonio. Mr. Mc-
Laughlin is a graduate of the Elec-
tra High school and attended Rice
Institute where he was a member
of the Owl football squad. He
served as a pilot in the AAF in the
European theatre of operations. He
returned to the states and received
his honoralbe discharge. He is still
in the army reserve.
