Ministers might be called roaming no-
mads with no home and perhaps they become
settled to this fact and treat the communities
they serve in with this thought when leaving.
When a family has lived in a community for
some time and for some reason or another
leave, one of their last things to be done be-
fore moving is to see that the home town
newspaper follows them for at least a year
or two. Yet, in the last quarter of a century I
can only recall two instanced of preachers re-
questing the paper be sent to the forwarding
address. It surely isn’t, they don’t want to
forget home ties ... they just have no home
for these friendly ties . . . which is another
big reason why all ministers should be com-
fortably retired when they reach advanced
age.

THE STATE OF TEXAS
To: Vic J. Parrish. Defendant,
There seemed to be no doubt as to where
brother tradesmen were working when two
carpenters met in a cafe yesterday, because
one said to the other: “And which whisky
store are you helping to build ?” In fact some
unsigned letters reached OPA in Fort Worth
about such construction and a representative
was here Tuesday to look the situation over.
Said official said he found nothing to incur
the wrath of people who complained as a
very small amount of critical materials be-
ing used to date . . . most of it being remod-
eling.

don’t have my wires crossed P. L. has built
up as bad a reputation of attaching a profit
to everything he gets his hands on as Dink
Robb and I have here in Electra. Not long
ago I showed some of the kodachromes I took
on my extended trip last summer at the Ro-

know “who my sponsor for the show would

that they are tired of OPA . . . that they had
i rather have high prices and not excuses . . .
that they were particularly out of sympathy
with the multitude of strikes . . . that one
party has been in power long enough to make
. too many mistakes. Th.e next two years is
not going to be easy for any political ma-
chine, but the way is now fairly w^ll set for
production and the consumer market is-still
. great. Texas will lose some prestige in the
nation’s capitol because of the change, and
! one of them is the speakership passing from
■ our native son. It’s perhaps better, because
‘ there is no other way to kick out many of the
political job holders who have come to believe
they have a permant hold on their political

some of these incompetents in office. The
Republicans have two years to make good
. . . they can if they kick the old guard over
the fence ... past experience has shown they
will not . . . will they do it this time?
