Mobil Oil Company in Dallas
following a ten day visit with
his mother. Mrs. Mary Bow-
ery and other relatives. Bow-
ery recently completed ten
months active duty with the
49th at Fort Polk, La.

and the hostesses.

are scheduled to leave Dallas

John G. Lappe Wed
Recently In El Paso
The Asbury Methodist Chu-
rch of El Paso was the setting
recently for the wedding of
Miss Mary Martha Monroe,
formerly of Electra, and John
George Lappe III of El Paso.
The bride is the daughter
of Mrs. Charles Walter Mon-
roe of El Paso, and the late
Dr. C. W. Monroe. Parents
of the groom are Mr. and
Mrs. John G. Lappe II of El
Paso.
For her wedding, the bride
wore a formal gown of white
organza designed with a
pleated front panel outlined
with re-embroidered lace. The
wide skirt ’extended into'* a
cathedral train. She wore an
organza pill box which held
her butterfly veil, and carred
a white orchid garlanded with
chrysanthemums atop a Rain-
bow Bible.
Attending the bride were
Miss Kathryn Yandell of High-
lands maid of honor and Miss-
es Kay Osborne of Newton, I-
owa, Barbara Lappe, sister of
the groom, of El Paso, and
Catherine Pinnerty of El Paso,
were bridesmaids.
Robert E. Knapp and Roger
S. Livingston of El Paso were
candlelighters. William P.
Lappe, brother of the groom,
of El Paso served as best man,
and Harris P. Hatfield. Rob-
ert Knapp, and Roger Livng-
ston, served as ushers and
groomsmen.
A reception was held in
the church Fellowship Hall
following the ceremony. The
couple plan to live in Hous-
ton followng a wedding trip
to Las Vegas, Nevada.

Here Saturday
The home, of the officiating
minister, Rev. E. H. Coburn,
was the setting for the wed-
ding of Mrs. Minnie Bowery
and Roy Power Saturday ev-
ening.
•For her. wedding, the bride
chose a blue ensemble with
matching accessories. She
wore a white carnation shoul-
der corsage.
Attending the couple were
the bride’s daughter, Mrs. A.
F. Neff of Electra, and the
groom’s son, Roy Power, Jr.
Following the ceremony
which was attended by close
relatives, the couple left for
a trip to Pennsylvania.
The couple plans to estab-
lish residence in Electra.
Hosts Mary Sue
Crochet Club Meeting
Mrs. C. G. Marshall was
hostess in her home Tuesday
afternoon to members of the
Mary Sue Crochet Club.
During the meeting, the
members and guests enjoyed
doing handwork and visiting.
Five guests were welcomed.
They were Mmes. Carol
Thompson, Willard Parsons,
Hartwell Minderman, and
>anny and Douglas Hughes,
grandsons' of Mrs. Marshall.
, The next meeting of the
group will be held September
11 in the home of Mrs. H. C.
Graham, 500 W. Roosevelt.

served following the meeting

Miss Christy Eakin
On Tenth Birthday
Miss Christy Eakin was
honored Wednesday, August
22, on her tenth birthday with
a* party at the hoirie of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar
Eakin.
During the afternoon a
swim party was held, follow-
ing whch a lovely array of
gifts was presented to the
honoree. Refreshments were
served to Misses Cindy Law-
son, Nita Mullen, Debra Bee-
be, DeDe Alvey, and Nancy
Campbell.
Christy proundly exhibited
a doll cake made and present-
ed to her by Mrs. Jimmy Is-
bell when ice-cream and cake
were enjoyed by Mr. and Mrs.
Dave Eakin, Mr. and Mrs. D.

Enjoyed Recently

Donald Peacock and W. C.
Stewart presented a program
on "Bowling” when members
of the local Business arid Pro-
fessional Women’s Club met
recently.
Peacock, manager of Elec-
tra Bowl scheduled to open
Saturday, discussed bowling
leagues and Stewart showed
films on bowling.
The president of the or-
ganization, Mrs. Glynn Atkins,
presided over the business
session. She introduced Mrs.
Theo Youree who spoke to
the group concerning the
aims and advancements of
women in business.

Whitecotton, and Helen San-
ders, were welcomed.
A coke party was enjoyed
following the meeting by the
above named and visitors,

Moore Circle of the First Bap-
tist W.M.U. met in the home
of Mrs. L. N. Cruse this week
for Bible Study.
The meeting was opened
with the reading of the cal-
endar of prayer. Special
prayer requests were given
and Mrs. L. A. Henning led
in prayer.
Mrs. I. C. Decker, chair-
man, directed the brief busi-
ness session. The Bible Stu-
dy lesson taken from the
fourth chapter of Colossians
was taught by Mrs. James
Totten.
The fourteen members pre-
sent for the meeting were

Kee, W. H. Rowe, J. R. San-

A watermelon feed was en-
joyed Tuesday evening,] Au-
gust 21, by members of the
Wesley Sunday School Class
of the First Methodist Chur-
ch in the backyard of Mr. and
Mrs. J. L. Lebouf.
Mrs. J. B. Minton led the
group in singing, and the Rev.
E. H. Coburn led the opening
prayer. The meeting was di-
rected -by Mrs. S. B. Faulkner
who welcomed the guests.
A special song was dedicat-
ed to Mrs. Joe Humphries who
was attending for the first
time in two years due to an
illness.
Mrs. Mary. Crawford pre-
sented a program on "Women
of the Bible.” Recreaton fol-
lowed the program.

Honoree Recently
The home of Miss Rita
Hamilton, 500 North Wag-
goner, was the scene Friday
evening for a lingerie shower
honoring Miss Janet Payne,
bride-elect of Richard Lasse-
ter of Burkburnett.
A white lace cloth covered
the refreshment table which
was centered with a gold bas-
ket of white and blue sweet
peas, and further decorated
with gay napkins and party
refreshments.
Assisting with hostess du-
tes were Misses Anita Story
and Theresa Morrison.
The honoree opened the
wide array of lovely gifts pre-
sented to her, and passed
them to be viewed by those
present and to be displayed.
Approximately 15 attended.

returned home from a two
week vacation tour during
which they visited the World’s
Fair, and toured Salt Lake
City, Boulder Dam, and Las
