F. V. Brasfield, manager of
the Electra Chamber of Com-
merce, announced this week
that the chamber is in need
of listings for apartments and
houses available for rent.
A number of requests have
been received by the chamber
office for such listings. Any-
one having an apartment or
house for rent is asked to
contact the Chamber of Com-
merce in order that they may
have it for their file.
The Harrold Hornets won

United Fund
Kick Off
Meeting Set
A kick-off meeting for the
1963 United Fund will be held
in the form of a dutch dinner
at 7 p. m. at Hugo’s on Octo-
ber 8, the Rev. Don Young-
blood, chairman, announced
this week.
It is requested that a repre-
sentative from each business
firm as well as the directors
of the United Fund be pre-
sent for the meeting.
The collection drive will be
launched at the meeting. Of-
ficials stated they are hoping
to work out a chapter plan
with a chairman from each
business firm assuming the
responsibility of collecting
from all employes.
This plan if successful will
eliminate the need for the
door to door collection drive
which has been necessary in
recent years to reach the
goals of the campaign.
The support of all business-
es is needed for the success of
the campaign, and each firm
is urged to have a representa-
tive present at the meeting.

Texaco Banquet
Active members of the

evening at 7 o’clock for all
retired employes and their
wives, the widows of former
employes, special invited

The plant which has been
in operation for the past fifty

School Homecoming Queen. -
Following the game a dance
will be held at the armory
with "The Kingsmen” from
Wichita Falls providing the
music. Admission will be
$1.50 for couples and $1.00
for stags.
The barbecue and business
meeting will be held on Sat-
urday. Barbecue tickets are
$1.25. Underwoods of Wich-
ita Falls will do the catering
for the noon barbecue at the
high school.

next week’s issue of the Elec-

which may prove to be our most important as the Olney
team is rated high in the AA teams.

With New Dog
Mrs. Grace Peterson
turned to her home here Sat-
ay from California with her
new seeing eye dog, Silver, a
German Shepherd female.
Silver replaces Nca, a dog
obtained by Mrs. Peterson in
1952. Nea became ill in 1962
and died in February of this
year.
Mrs. Peterson completed a
four week training session at
the International Guiding
Eyes, Inc., in North Holly-
wood, Calif.
Her trip was sponsored by

Club wiih the assistance of
friends.
Mrs. E. C. Darter accom-
panied Mrs. Peterson to board

WHEREAS great social and economic losses to
our city result from the destruction of homes, busi-
ness enterprises, industries and natural resources:
THEREFORE, I, Grover C. Harrison, Mayor of
Electra, do hereby proclaim the week beginning Oct.
6, 1963, as Fire Prevention Week.
I call upon all departments and agencies of the
city government to participate actively in a campaign
for improved fire safety. The Fire Department and the
schools of our city can provide effective leadership
in the activities of Fire Prevention Week, and I urge
them to work with the Chamber of Commerce and
other organizations for a successful program.
I earnestly request every citizen of the commun-
ity to take part in relieving hazardous conditions and
making our city a safer community in which to live
and work.
