PEERING AROUND
TOWN with PEGGY
The average house wife walks about eight
miles a day ... says someone- And I thought
some days I really walked.
I noticed the other day in reading that
half of the rose bushes in the U. S- got their
early rooting in Texas- And that special town
and community in Texas where they come
from is Tyler. Most of us associate Tyler
with oil. Not that many roses.
Mi’s. Bill Gowdy, the former Miss Vera
Prince has a nine pound son bora February
26- “Grandma” Ella Prince is visiting Mr and
Mrs. Gowdy but expects to return home soon.
Congratulations to John and Glen Minton
who are opening a new confectionary next
door to their cleaning establishment. Won’t
be so far to walk for that cup of coffee or
coke and other things-
In Turkey they have one woman Army of-
ficer and she flies an army war plane. She
is the founder and leader of Turkey’s Flying
Amazons

Practically all of the indoor and outdoor
rinks in the southern half of U. S., which
have sprung up in the past year or two, can
be traced to Miss Songa Heine’s influence-
Of course you all know Sonja is a movie star
of such fame. I think she is a much better
skater than anything else. But there seems
no limit to what women will be responsibe
for next-
The significance of this census seems to
be the fact that one third) of the nation’s
population is living in cramped and squalid
quarters-

According to papers, magazines and not
men, women are advancing to the front more
every day. An article in the paper from Mos-
cow, Idaho thinks the U- S. missed entry into
the European war when the Duchess of
Windsor failed to become the queenof Eng-
land and quotes “If she had ascended the
throne U. S. would now be tied to the British
Simpson would have lined up every woman
lion’s tail and as queen Of: England, Wallis
in America to put the United States in the
war with England-”
We also have or will have a new jewelry
store with Mr. W. M- Edwards of Weather-
ford owner and manager. He will occupy the
building formerly used by Kelly’s Eletric
shop, on North Waggoner street- Mrs. Annie
Weaver will occupy part of the same build-
ing where she will continue her knitting and
alteration shop.

A hundred years ago woman, was in the
eyes of the law, in a state of absolute de-
pendence upon man. But now, I had better
stay with Texas, in it’s 254 counties more
than half of them have women treasurers.
Twenty four hold the office of county clerk,
and forty hold! the office of district clerks.
Judge Sarah Hughes is the only woman dis-

Everyone that can join the motorcade

big time is planned by all who attend.

Soon comes the knock knocking of the
census takers. There will be 12,000 of them.
There is some way of avoiding answering
them, by sending in a special blank written
by themselves but this must be filed as you
would your income tax and the special ab-

the questions quickly and accurately as pos-

May Warn of Disordered
Kidney Action
Modem life with its hurry and worry.
Irregular habits, improper eating and
drinking—Its risk of exposure and infec-
tion—throws heavy strain on the work
of tho kidneys. They are apt to become
over-taxed and fail to filter excess acid
and other impurities from the life-giving
blood.
You may suffer nagging backache,
headache, dizziness, getting up nights,
leg pains, swelling—feel constantly
tired, nervous, all worn out. Other signs
of kidney or bladder disorder arc some-
times burning, scanty or too frequent
urination.
Try Doan’s Pills. Doan’s help the
kidneys to puss off harmful excess body
waste. They have had more than hall a
century of public approval. Aro recom-
mended by grateful users everywhere.
