Makes Surprise
Visit Here Sunday
Jerry Wilson, son of (Mrs. M. L.
Wilson, made a surprise visit home
during the week end. The young
man, who is with the US Navy
Air Service, recently returned to
the States from Okinawa and is
now stationed on Whidby Island
in Oak Harbor, Washington. He
was a member of a crew of a
Navy Squadron which flew over
this area Saturday, on a training
mission, enroute to Dallas. On his
arrival at the Navy base in Dallas,
the Navy airman called his sister,
Mrs. Phil Tolberd and family in
Fort Worth. Members of the Tol-
berd family went after him and
following a brief visit in their
home, Wilson's nephew, Gary Tol-
berd, brought him to Electra.
Other members of the Wilson
family including Mr .and Mrs. Fos- | Family Needs
ter Wilson and daughter of Iowa
Park and Mr. and Mrs. Theo
Youree of (Electra joined in the
’’welcome home” luncheon, Sun-
day at noon in the Eastside Hotel.
The Navy man left Sunday night
for Dallas to rejoin his crew for
the flight back to the Pacific
Coast base Monday morning.
This was Wilson’s first visit
home since before he went over-
seas. (His 'wife, the former Marian
Menwasser, joined him at
Whidby Island and has established
residence there.

Help to Found
Home Together
tNurses and attendants ;
speeding up their efforts in
Wichita Falls hospital to teach
L V. Walker, young father of
three children, to sit up and to
acquire more confidence in hold-
ing up his head and using his
hands. The extra effort is natural
in the course of events which are
shaping up for the family which
will re-establish their home toget-
her in Unit 18, Electra’s Eastview
Homes, after long months of sep-
aration which followed a tragic
accident which took place south
of Electra in January this year.
Mr. Walker was critically injured
in an automobile accident. Head
injuries, crushed and splintered
spinal column and other injuries
left him more dead than alive for
many weeks. Operations to remove
pressure of the broken bones on
the spinal cord have helped some-
what to relieve the paralysis in
the upper part of the body but
reports indicate that he is stiU
paralyzed from the waist idown.
He is making rapid progress, it
is said, in rehabilitation and ar-
rangements have been made for
the family to start to housekeep-
ing and for a small monthly state
aid allotment.
Friends of the family here in
Electra accepted a call from the
Wichita Falls Red Cross chapter
for help in the way of donations
of furniture and household equip-
ment. The housing units provide
refrigeration, stove and plenty of
built-in cabinet and closet space.
Beds, table, chairs and dishes have
been donated. Things most needed,
as of Tuesday, were cooking uten-
sils, mop, broom, pillows, linens
and groceries to help stabilize the
meager budget in the next few
weeks.
Anyone willing to donate any of
these things or personal items
for any or all of the family, will
please notify Darter Furniture
Store, Mrs.. Ernest Bruce or Mrs.
Lloyd Story.
Mrs. Walker has been constant-
ly in attendance at her husband’s
bedside during the nearly seven
months of her husband's invalid-
ism. The children, Robbie, 5;
Lloyd, 3 years old and Elva, 19
months old, have been cared for
by relatives during their father’s
illness.
