Bill McAlister, senior half-
back from Electra, Texas, is
one of the top defensive play-
ers for Eastern New Mexico
University.
McAlister, who stands 5-10
and weighs 180, is the start-
ing monster back (roving line-
backer). He has lettered the
past two years after coming
to Eastern from Ranger Jun-
ior College in Texas where
he earned All-Conference and
All-Toxas Junior College hon-
ors. He was team captain
and all District in Hogh
school.
At Electra High School he
earned letters in golf, base-
ball, basketball and football.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Joe McAlister.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the
Veterans of Foreign Wars
Gold Star Auxiliary met at
the VFW hall at 903 E. Cleve-
land Oct. 15 with Senior vice
president, Viola Lockett, pre-
siding in the absence of the
president, Lula Gumpert.
The meeting was opened by
prayer by the chaplain, Alta
McDaniel. Discussion was
held concerning the district
•15 convention to be held in
Olney Oct. 24 and 25. Mem-
bers were urged to bring lin-
ens for the linen basket.
Delegates to the convention
were Mmes W. K. Isberto,
Ethel Brown, William Gum-
pert, D. A.. McDaniel and
Dona McCully. Alternates
were Mmes Dona Keller, A.
S. Lockett, Pearl Thompson,
E. N. Patterson and Cecil
Lane.
Refreshments were served
to the members after the clos-
ing ceremonies. The next
meeting will be held Nov. 5.

A brief statement of the
nature of this suit is as fol-
lows, to-wit:
After alleging jurisdiction,
plaintiff further alleges that
he and defendant were mar-
ried on or about the 16th day
of September, 1956 and con-
tinued to live together as
husband and wife until on or
about the 19th day of Aug-
ust, 1963, when by reason of
cruel, harsh and tyrannical
treatment on the part of the
defendant toward this plain-
tiff, without cause or provo-
cation, was of such a nature
as to render their further liv-
ing together insupportable;
that there are two children
(born as a result of this mar-
riage, Clyde L. Still, JrHI,
age six years and Alexsandra
Still, age one year, and that
there is no community prop-
erty except household furnish-
ings.
Wherefore, plaintiff prays
that defendant be cited to ap-
pear and answer herein, and

and Mrs. Ross A. Wilson of
404 East Jackson, Electra,
Texas, are serving aboard the
amphibious command ship
USS Eldorado, now patrolling
the Western Pacific as one of
the Seventh Fleet Units put
on alert following the recent
North Vietnamese PT Boat
attacks in the Gulf of Ton-
kin.
Eldorado is the flagship of
the Commander Amphibious
Forces in the Seventh Fleet.
She carries a very large arp-
ount of communications e-
quipment and is the floating
command post from which the
Commander can direct oper-
ations involving the movement
of troops from many ships to
the shore.

tober 13 with Tonya Howell
calling the meeting to order.
Plans were made to attend
the Texas Fair on October 17.
It was decided the FHA
would sell mums for home-
coming and nominees for FHA
sweetheart were elected. They
were John Robb, Richard
Black, Dale Barker, Jim Gil-
bert and Ronnie Parker.
The sweetheart will be pre-
sented at an assembly Octo-
ber 23.
