a letter yesterday stating their son,
Clyde N. Hartwell had been promot-
ed to corporal. He is stationed at
Camp Edwards, Mass. Clyde said
he hoped to get a furlough in Sep-
tember to visit home folks and
friends at Bon'ham. He said he had
been in 25 states but Texas was the
most beautiful of all. He had been
in Washington, D. C., where he saw
the capitol.

charge of the meeting. Mrs. Johnnie
Walker gave a study course “Saved
to Serve.” This study course gave
the lives of some of our mission-
aries on the foreign fields.

Very beautiful, but very hot
weather on this fork of the creek,
last week-end, and Sunday.
Cottonpicking is becoming the
order of the day again on most of
the farms here. Heavy dews are
hampering the work considerably in
the early forenoon hours.
Miss Ada Cowan of Fair View is
spending a few days in Dallas visit-
ing relatives.
Leon Wagner was a Bonham visi-
tor Wedneday.
Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Price of Fair
View were dinner guests in the
home of L. W. Wagner and family
Saturday.
Douglas Raye Wagner, who is at-
tending business college in Dallas
spent last week - end here with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wagner,
and brother Jack. He returned to
Dallas Sunday afternoon.
Herman Lower of Virginia Point
was visiting his mother, Mrs. Alice
Hawk, Sunday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Nix, were vis-
iting relatives in. Savoy, Wednesday.
Earl Blakey was a Denison visitor
Thursday.
Miss Faye Ferry departed for
Denison Saturday, where she was to
make arrangements for a place to
room and board for the next nine
months. Miss Ferry will teach in
one of the ward schools of that city
during the 1942-43 school term.
Leon Wagner and Jim Malone
were Bonham visitors Sunday night.

The WjS.C.S. of the First Metho-
dist church met Monday afternoon
at the church with Mrs. W. E. New-
ton, presiding.
The meetting was opened by sing-
ing, “Work, For the Night Is Com-
ing-”
Mrs. Will Finley brought the de-
votional taken from Luke 4:16. Mrs.
Ed Hodge led in prayer.
“A Time of Preparation,” was the
topic for discussion, led by Miss
Mabel Taylor. 'Mmes. Felix Burnett
and T. J. Clotfelter assisted, the
leader.
Mrs. W. P. Kantz gave a report
of the Educational Seminary held in
Paris.
The meeting was dismissed with
prayer by Mrs. B. L. Adams.
